We have people on this board to this day that still believe stoops was the second coming of bear Bryant. He should have been fired a decade ago just like cal but we hate progress

2. I get the comparison of Stiops and Stein…but I don’t see why one doing good means the other was worse stuff. Stoops did a solid job IMO…did Mitch way overdue with the money…indeed but Mitch the same nonsense with Cal and I think he gave tubby a crazy deal and go lucky coached left thr pressure of UK to not payout thr contract
3. I still think we need to see a season play out before anointing things one way or another
- this era or NIL Ana portal….UK can be improved in an offseason with good players , right money and player evaluation vs years gone by. We bought the entire Oline, Qb,

- Texas AM qb was a mess …not sure that team will be top 20 with a much harder sec slate lthis year

I feel like Will Stein may be the football equivalent of 1989 Rick Pitino. He's young, has an innovative offense and has the potential to become an elite coach. But unlike Pitino, he's actually from here and will be less likely to leave when "Boston" comes calling. After all of these years, I think we finally have the right guy.
As far as UK football coaches go, Stoops was definitely well above average. But considering how terrible we've traditionally been, that isn't necessarily saying much. Stoops did some good things here and I'm appreciative for that. But he was never going to become an elite coach. Will Stein has the potential to do truly special things here.

Kentucky has to find a way to keep this guy for the long haul. Contract, resources so he doesnt feel like hes "missing" something. But even then, gonna be tough to keep him.

There is no daughter, no stalking, etc.I’d argue that Stoops actually wasn’t that great of a coach. He had his moments, but most of his wins were against unranked teams when the SEC east was in the gutter. Miss St, Mizzou, South Carolina, Tenn, Florida , and Vandy were all going through multiple coaches and were pretty terrible.
Owned Florida at the end....and soem of them were solid teams.

NOT GIVING UP POINTS B4 halftime of a game you are either winning or really close
How many times did we see the opposing team go down the field and score before the half.
A&M was rolling, trying to score another 7 before the half and UK shut that **** down! A&M scores and maybe the mindset going into the 2nd half is different.

If you rank UK coaches by their SEC winning percentage, which is a measure of your supposed peers, Stoops comes in 4th. Behind Bryant, Collier, and CurcI - which is about where I think he belongs. Stoops all-time wins record is built on an extra guarantee game and frankly by sticking around the longest. Good but not the best by even UK standards.
But, does anyone else get the heebie-jeebies about the fact that the 2 other UK coaches that won their initial road SEC game were John Ray and Joker. Not the 2 names I would want to be associated with.
