2008 finished 78th in the country.
2009 finished 48th in the country.
2025 finished 16th in the country.
2026 finished 29th in the country.

What happens here is people want to be hyperbolic so they will hand-select a stat can make this look closer to fit their own purpose. An example would be comparing the teams’ overall records without context or their SEC conference record/ranking. However, let’s compare these teams by strength of schedule.

Let’s compare the four teams by SOS:
2008 played the 42nd SOS in the country.
2009 played the 32nd SOS in the country.
2025 played the 3rd SOS in the country.
2026 played the 7th SOS in the country.

Let’s compare the four teams by NCAA Tournament finish:
2008 lost in the first round (R64)
2009 did not make the NCAAT (DNQ)
2025 lost in the Sweet Sixteen (S16)
2026 lost in the second round (R32)

I don’t know who you’re getting your information about college basketball history from, but I’d ask that you stop listening to them. They don’t know very much about Kentucky basketball history or its teams.
