Like I said, im taking the BETTER player all day, I dont care what class they are.
But like idk man if we hit on a couple of the misses from last year we might be having diff conversation, like if we get Wilson or Tounde or Cenac or Ament

Ryan Hampton has a lot of upside. He’s long, and athletic, he’s not a finished product and I don’t think he will be a major contributor in year one. I do worry about Pope’s High School recruiting but if there was a year to miss on a bunch of guys this past year was it. This upcoming freshmen class is historically weak according to all the scouts that follow this stuff. I think Pope needs just 2-3 legit prospects a year and he will be fine with High School. My biggest issue was not being ready for the portal last year, not understanding who was putting feelers out. Half the portal class already had a destination when they entered. That’s the reason we ended up with a team of 6 men. This year was almost that way as well, he closed strong and I do commend him for not over paying for Chandler, Donnie Freeman, or Rob Wright. This year’s team has a ton of upside, and he’s got guys that fit his system a lot better. It’s closer to the first year’s team, but younger. To circle back around High School recruiting matters but he only needs to land 2-3 a year to be effective.
Milan, Wilkins, Zoom, Moreno, and Mcnride were all starters on there Team. 3 of them were from piwer 5 conferences.

It takes like 30 seconds to do a little research and learn that Pope switched his focus from HS recruiting to the portal years ago at BYU. Oh he goes after some top players. But his focusi s on the tried and true. Stop acting like hand ringing old women about everything.
I was talking about last year’s team being a team of 6th men. This year we don’t have the issue. I really didn’t like last years roster construction, I think it was an over reaction to the defensive issues the prior year mixed with injuries. This year is much better on paper than last years roster construction, plus there’s a lot more upside. In fact I see NBA upside with a half dozen players we have this year. The physicality and rebounding has to get better or else we are vulnerable in the SEC.
