Congrats to those two getting jobs at such a high level. Keep working hard fellas.
Good luck to two young men trying to make their way in the coaching profession. But I’m otherwise not part of the “Always a Cat” mob.
Riley seems like he has a good future in coaching. He has kept moving up.
If we want success, the next coach here will be Donovan or Jai.
Especially in this new portal era where players typically play for multiple teams.
Like, if Fredrick is always a Cat, does that mean he’s also always an Iowa Hawkeye and always a Cincinnati Bearcat? After all, he played far more games for those schools than he did for us.
I think Lucas would be the leading candidate if we were searching for a new coach today. However, it might be a harder sell than many think. Miami is a rich school in a beautiful part of the city. Golden and Billy have proven you can win in Florida. I would think that Miami would be easier to recruit than Gainesville. Miami has the resources to pay for coach and players.

For people who cry about lack of experience, it is odd to see the Jai love wanting to promote him to UK’s coach after one year at Miami. He has always been a good recruiter and seems like he will have success but he is 1-1 in the NCAA tournament. His first year, absent a couple of slips, was really good. But I would want to see more, if we are trying to hire known success.

Says the little boy who just joined, most of us don’t like being used by a coach who never really wanted to be at Kentucky in any capacity. Go pull for Miami or Duke.

The Jai Lucas hate is more bizarre. He didn’t commit to Kentucky during Tubbys last season when the fan base was frustrated and the writing was on the wall his tenure was almost over and went to Florida soon after Gillispies hiring (smart move). He left as a coach when he didn’t see eye-to-eye with how Calipari was running the program/recruiting, a frustration he shared with the fans.
He’s clearly a hot name to watch out for, would have no problem making a run at him if Pope doesn’t work out.

He had around $25 to $27 million to work with this offseason and only managed to put together a top 15-20 team.
So I'll pass on giving General John Pope another stab at winning at Bull Run.
