OT: RIVALS getting very bad PR due to the fact of their Charges to recruits

Depends. Will they throw in an extra star for a $1000? 
Considering NIL nowadays that may be a good investment. Esp for a kid who really isn't on anyone's radar for whatever reason.

It will lead to prospects bribing the scouting services for higher rankings. The cost of the bribe will be easily offset by the increase in NIL an extra star gets you. Two things, a) I don't have a problem with this. My parents absolutely would have paid $500 for my brother to have a little extra exposure for baseball coming out of highschool. His coach had no college network/connections and his team wasn't one that had eyes on it coming from the next level. b) Tulsa is almost $100,000year!? That's obscene.
Man everyone just trying to get as much money as possible. Will be 5k in a couple years.
Who would have ever expected Rivals to stoop to a profit scheme?
Look for Dexter Simmons (2029) to be on Rivals top 100 once the first of the month check hits.
A few months ago I read one of these evaluators admit that sometimes ranking order is based on the representatives and others involved with a player – even saying that when it’s pretty even between two players one kid may be ranked higher because the evaluator didn’t want to have to deal with the player’s people who he knew would hassle him over the ranking.
If coaches are paying NIL $ based on rating service rankings, I reckon so. If not, it doesn't affect the players or the schools.
So they are charging high school recruits to "evaluate " them. Then they want to charge posters for inside info regarding these same recruits.
I just don't understand who the people are who follow recruiting these days. When it really blew up 20 yrs ago it was kind of fun. National signing day was almost like a holiday.
Now? We're a third of the way through the season already and I'm still hearing names of guys on the football field for the first time. Couldn't tell you more than three or so names of guys on the coming basketball roster. Baseball at least has some continuity. Those are the only 3 sports I give a crap about.
The only reason I have a paid subscription, as I've said before, is because there are significantly fewer idiots on the paid board. Couldn't care less about following recruiting of mercenaries in 2026.
My gut tells me the PR backlash over this scheme is going to result in them nixing it. But maybe not.

Just because these families will pay, it doesn’t mean they should have to pay it
That Shannon dude has made the same site 3 times now and sold it. He will continue this until someone stops buying his business and letting him start yet a new one. He will charge whatever he can get away with and he doesn’t care imho. Only if espn and others say nah we recruit free and it has an affect his business will he stop.
If they'd stop doing it, they wouldn't have to. Crazy how few people are willing to ever just stand up and do the right thing any more.
