Both legacy hires, and records don’t lie. Both mid 60%’s overall. I hope they keep him as long as they want us to keep pope.

I'll keep saying it. If your ever confused about keeping a coach or not, just look at what other fanbases want/say. If they want you to keep your coach, get rid of him. If they pray that he leaves, lock him down.

We didn't lock down Pitino and it's kinda a nightmare to think about how much success we would have had. Uconn got to keep Hurley. Duke got to keep coach K. It's time we get an elite, HoF coach and lock him down.

So there is no need to play this game with Pope.

dickalato, we'll see. Pope HAS to be feeling the heat. We'll find out soon enough if he's ready to ditch the super-friendly role and become a teacher of the game, and whether Batt is willing to do the necessary should it come to that. Hopefully it's the former.

I'll just say to be careful what you wish for. Did we not just have a Hall of Fame coach on a "lifetime" contract that we were terribly lucky to get out of? Locking down a coach can be a detriment if said coach loses his fastball.

I'm not saying to not ever replace a coach...just "locking" one down could pose more of a problem than it fixes.

"It's time we get an elite, HOF coach and lock him down."

We did exactly that with our last coach and people spent the last few years of his tenure here begging for him to be fired and bemoaning how stupid it was to sign him to the contract we did...

Don't get me wrong, it was past time for both parties to move on. (I mean, how could we still have faith in Cal after his last four seasons here?) Just found it a bit funny.

Can't believe Kentucky is being coached by a guy who averages 12 losses a year over an 11 year career.
Well more than half the people on here want Nate Oats to be our coach and he is averaging 10.4 losses a year at Alabama. And for his 11 year career he is averaging 10.5 losses a year. And when Alabama first hired him he was averaging 10.75 losses a year.

Cal was not our only HOF coach we wanted gone. Last few years for Coach Rupp were not exactly a love fest.
I know this is somewhat of an apples to oranges comparison…or better yet, strudel to cannolis, but there are similarities.

As for locking down Coach Pitino, I think we did everything practically possible to keep him here. If you recall, he had been flirting with a move to the NBA several consecutive seasons before he ditched us. Each of those last few years of his time here, Rick’s response to the NBA rumors kept dragging out longer and without a message that slammed the door shut.

Said this weeks ago and got some hate over it. Makes complete sense to me! Also, both coaches beat a team they probably shouldn’t one week, then turn around and lose to one they shouldn’t the next.

Pope is a little further down than Brohm honestly because Brohm's teams have won some conference championships. Pope has never won a conference title at any level.
