So how did the UKATS get so good so quick

They hired a good coach that knows what he's doing. He went and got the pieces in the trenches in year 1 because he knows they are needed to win. Yet here we are in year 3 and Lebby couldn't recruit a lineman if his life depended on it
Ugly truth unfortunately

Minchey is the best QB in the SEC that no one even acknowledges. Dude is sneaky good. Good runner, smart passer, & absolutely clutch.

I think the real question, is how did they find Stein. We all realize they did in fact hire a good coach. But what were they looking for? Did they have a plan?

And how did he know to go get the backup ND QB, when ND crooted over him?

I still think a little of it is fools' gold, as it's rare to get those 2 OT wins the way they did. And OU outplayed them besides the INTs. Will be curious if their luck holds up against UT, Fla and Mizzou.

they hired an excellent coach that wants to be there, great recruiters, and they're not poor. we hired someone as HC who's better suited as a career OC, have zero exceptional recruiters (or recruiting plan, for that matter), and yes, we're poor in relation to the rest of the conference. heard on their LSU game that their HC was at UK as a fan in 2007 and stormed the field when they beat someone.

I go back to that interview Lebby gave when he was mic’ed up for practice. You could tell by his non-serious child-like answers that he was just happy to be getting the pay check. It was like he was just happy to be there and call himself the HC. We need a man with a plan that is hungry, not someone just happy to have the title of HC. I have not been lucky enough to hang out with Lebby, but I do have some close friends that have. And they told me Lebby is about two things. Smoking weed and money.

Sounds like Will Rodgers. Grew up an Ole Miss fan, played QB for his rival, gets into coaching and probably ends up back at Ole Miss coaching one day because of how our fans treated him and Leach

And will probably have a fire lit under his asss too like Stein

The teams that are at the top of the conference standings have avoided the injury bug. Due to NIL and the transfer portal depth isn’t what it once was and that goes for everyone. I’m not saying Kentucky is good solely because they’ve avoided major injuries but it sure does help.

Stein is a fast riser and they got him on the rise. He was a first year OC at Texas-San Antonio four years ago. Did a lot of good as Oregon’s OC and they look way worse without him this year.

I kinda feel like they hired a young Dan Mullen with a little more recruiting chops.

They beat a very mediocre LSU team and a team in OK State fans have said all season we should beat. The answer is, they aren't having the injuries we're having, LSU is having etc.

Didn't they win 2 of their games on gutsy 2 point conversions at the closing whistle?

They did, but this is Kentucky we’re talking about, and they already have 3 SEC road wins. Plus a win over a ranked LSU. I think their SEC record the last two years was barely better than ours.

They also have way more defensive talent.

stoops recruited well there and their DL is solid - I cannot emphasize enough how hard it is to win with our dline in this league.

we are on year 3 of showing what a bottom 2 defensive front means for that side of the ball.
