Per FoxNews, Corruption in Government is now the top concern for Americans

DONALD TRUMP IS ROBBING Americans blind, and even Republicans are starting to notice.

You may recall that back in March, there were some suspiciously timed, uncannily lucrative oil and stock trades. About fifteen minutes before Trump abruptly announced he was retracting some threats against Iran, billions of dollars’ worth of contracts were placed on bets that oil prices would fall and the S&P 500 would jump. And those lucky bastards turned out to be right!

Less known was that the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, a federal regulator that supervises futures markets, began a preliminary investigation of the suspicious trading volume surge. But according to a bombshell story this week from Bloomberg, a senior adviser to the Trump-appointed CFTC chairman subsequently “intervened” and told them to lay off. Staff had made a referral to CFTC’s internal enforcement division to launch a full-scale insider trading investigation; they were ordered to retract it.

If this was a case of insider trading—and there are some beet-red flags to suggest it was—it would not be a victimless crime. There were losers on the other side of those bets, the chumps whom the insiders got to steal money from by virtue of having an inside line to the White House.

Sure, some of those chumps might have been rich, unsympathetic Wall Street traders; but some of them might have been your pension fund.

Were this an isolated incident, it would be bad enough: Trump and/or his cronies may have used access to market-moving information to enrich themselves, and the Trump-appointed regulators made sure none of their actions were properly investigated.

But this sort of apparent malfeasance looks like one of the defining characteristics of the Trump era.

You've moved the goal post. You asked why the left hates Nick Shirley- the reason is because he's a paid maga shill who is part of their propaganda network and used as a political retaliation tool by the people literally running our government.
No. I'm pointing out your hypocrisy in only hating paid shills for one side. You're perfectly fine with them from the other side. Whereas I am perfectly fine with anyone who can point it out, as long as it's real, regardless of their agenda.

OK good for you. I couldn't be happier for you.

However, you're really channeling Maga here by assuming what I'm fine with or whether or not I have issues with biased reporting by those that are left leaning.

Shirley is the definition of propaganda spreading. The one rule I have in politics is to reject propaganda, much like you want 'fraud' rooted out regardless of source, I don't want any propaganda in my news, or consumption of it, regardless of side. I call out the left when they dabble in it too.

While pardoning 70 individuals, including billionaires, for financial crimes that have erased 1.3 Billion in court ordered restitution and fines owed to victims and the federal government. Not to mention those found guilty of trafficking 400 tons of cocaine into the country and the Founder of Silk Road who was serving a life sentence.

Nobody takes your feeble attempts to provide cover for this master criminal seriously Growls.

How so? If you commit enough fraud you will get a pardon, especially if you scratch his back. Is that the signal you want to send when you're supposedly anti-fraud? He doesn't give AF about fraud unless he can pursue it against his enemies.

… are a little tired of insider trading…
Nah, we are pissed as hell. Are you not?
A million here, a million there, pretty soon we are talking about real money.
And, oh yeah, drump has done illegal things.

My characterization is certainly exaggerated but I think it's thematically correct. I will acknowledge that I have a number of MAGA posters on ignore so it's entirely possible you're consistently slapping down their BS but I do see you commenting on those threads without push back. And I do think you have significantly higher expectations for Democratic politicians than Republicans as well as for left leaning posters. It's not an iron clad rule but I believe you can see it in your post here.

Trump very plainly committed crimes and the fact that he was elected president and all of the trials got killed doesn't stop that from being true. Your whole "rule of law" spiel about this comes across as support for Trump, even if what you're trying to do is add context (that doesn't contribute to the conversation). Similarly, the scale with which Trump and Biden abused pardons is not comparable, nor is the associated criminal activity for those crimes pardoned. And you should know that.
no one can, with a straight face, deny that Trump was convicted prior to the 2024 election. But in spite of that fact he was elected president.

For sure Jack Smith believed he had the goods on trump and could have received convictions, and yes the DoJ decided not to pursue. Now would trump have been convicted....you seem pretty sure the answer is yes....I, on the other hand, have sero idea of what smith had, how much would have been allowed in court, how much could have been refuted in court and how a jury might have judged...

My "rule of law" spiel applies across the aisle. I haven't convicted swawell, or Omar...everyone is innocent until proven guilty. Why would I have a different perspective on trump.

For sure the appearance of trump's pardons is significantly different that Biden's, It just seems a little hypocritcal to bash trump on pardons when Biden granted so many pre conviction including his son, who Biden told the country he would not pardon. But I agree that pardoning people after contributions is definitely shady

We're in a tricky spot because we do legitimately have lots of politicians doing shady things and we combine that with a general public that's on a real populist streak and aren't very good at critical thinking.

For example (and I'm not going to sit here and say with confidence that all of the Pelosi's trading was all perfectly legal), I saw a post showing how much Nancy Pelosi is worth right now vs what she was when she came into office and they were like CROOK! But if you sat and did the math, if she'd just left her net worth invested in the stock market with no further investments that got her to 85% of the number. People going around parroting ******** and talking about the "donor class", "billionaire class", "consultant class", "oligarchs", "radical left" is all dangerous; it's a shortcut that allows us to have an enemy without needing to think. And that's where I do think we can see more violence in general; people seeing enemies and not thinking.
well I agree with your thinking on this one

Well depending on what "enrich yourself" means, I don't think it's fair to expect politicians (or anyone) to have high net worths. Maybe I feel that way just because I'm a Bogle-head but if I left my net worth alone right now, it's going to be a very gaudy number by the time I'm Pelosi's age. And my net worth has only come from income invested in broad index funds +some inheritance that was generated the same way.
a lot of these guys come to Congress wealthy
It’s what he wants. He wants the riots you see in albania so he can declare martial law and end elections.

If you dig into the crosstabs, it shows that 60% of respondents are extremely concerned about the issue. Would this be an extreme concern unless they thought it was illegal? Are you trying to claim that corruption is not inherently illegal?

Martha Stewart went to jail for five months followed by five months of house arrest for trading one stock. What Trump has done is orders of magnitude worse than what she did because as POTUS he's the ultimate insider and has clearly gamed the system to enrich himself.

Joe Biden was not in office and had not enriched himself and Comer Pyle investigated him for two long years because of a suspicion.

But we shouldn't jump to conclusions about Trump when the evidence is smacking us in the face?

Again, you make me laugh.
well again you might be 100% right and I may be equally wrong. But I read in a reputable paper that Trump does not trade in stock himself. There is someone who does that for him with input.

Who was I that just posted that the American people have little to no idea about things. Does the fact that 60% number refer only to trump or was that question related to Washington?

Corruption is inherently illegal, and likely written in our laws. So charge and prosecute. Face it, none of us know the facts about trump's wealth, or how he has added to it during this term. If you can show that Trump violated the law, you should consult your representative or senator and include the crime in the upcoming impeachment trial. That way we can get the facts out into the open and end speculation.

Laughing is good for the health. Glad I'm contributing to your longevity. seriously

Let me ask you this...if Trump wasn't timing the market, why would he be selling early access to his tweets for $100,000 a month?

Does that sound on the up and up to you?

His sons sit on the boards of Polymarket and Kalshi. See a conflict of interest there?

I think you're misunderstanding what I'm saying. I'm not hating on Graham on this topic. Or even at all in the post. I was just pushing back some on you saying that his relatively modest net worth when he died was indicative of high character, that's all. I don't want someone to just assume that you did something shady just because you have some money.
I wasn’t saying he had high character. I was just giving him props for this specific thing. If he, who came from nothing, had died with a net worth of $100 million. He would have been up to something shady.

From where he started and how old he was when he died, I agree that 100 million would be shady.

I'm not going to go back and guess at how much Lindsey Graham was making and could have been investing all this time, but if he had died with a net worth of 15 million or something, I think that could have aroused a lot of suspicions, but it could have just been indicative of making reasonably safe investments and holding the whole time.

My posts seem to be bringing a comedic effect into you life....

So, if Trump is timing the market, why does he need to sell early access? I don't think the early access is a good look and I have posted this before.

His kids on the boards of any company isn't a good look either. But, they have their own lives and I don't know how you stop them from expanding their business interests. This administration is somewhat unique in having multimillionaire offspring with diverse business interests, and it's entirely understandable that questions about propriety would be raised. We had the same thing with Billy beer when Clinton was president and of course hunter and Jim Biden. Like I said, not a good look but don't know how you stop or control it

Yes Ned, it's exactly like Billy Carter and Hunter Biden, you nailed it.

He doesn't need to sell early access, but what reason would there be for an entity to pay for early access unless it helped them get a jump on the market?

You can try to control it with checks and balances, something he hasn't had for the last two years.

I think you missed my point...I you said Trump was timing the markets, I don't know that, but I'll accept it. But what does that have to do with him selling early access? If I were selling access with market moving info, I'd but ahead of the early access.

On crater and hunter...both made money off their father's/brother's position. So are the trump's...you can talk degrees again, but making money off a relative in the presidency, is till making money off the presidency.

you're likely not old enough to remember the Carter years and the Senate investigation...

Then what are they paying for Ned? It's not so they can read some profound early morning Zen poetry from the Donald, that I can tell you.

Do you really not understand how his sons being prediction market board members creates a risk or appearance that they are part of a small circle with intimate, non-public knowledge of White House actions that directly dictate whether these market contracts win or lose? That can harm a lot more people than a son whose name gets him access to contracts that benefit him alone. Surely you can see that.

well I can see that if somehow they're getting advanced information...but are they betting? Maybe I don't know...I'm not a Kalshi or the other one, so I'm not one to eloquently discuss either of these companies.

I've said, I am not a fan of trump's early access to his posts...At a minimum its seems ethically questionable. I don't know if it's illegal, but I have confidence that either way a new Democrat Congress will investigate.

I know what they're paying for, early access, in anticipation that something trump posts will move the markets and they'll get in or out before anybody else. And, as I've posted, seems to me to be unethical.....

And. as I've posted, his sons being involved in just about any business venture will raise eyebrows. But, they're businessmen, and it doesn't seem practical or legal to somehow restrict their activities. (unless those activities are illegal).....Now I know you think "it's different" but there didn't seem to be nearly as much concern when Hunter was selling paintings for $750,000, or sitting on Ukranian boards making $$millions....It happens...you'll bring up the trump boys and TG FP and others will bring up hunter....

How about the President of the US selling watches....now I'd bet that's something we could agree on.

Did you ever find anything to contradict what I read about trump having no involvement in stock trades? Like I said, I read it, don't know if accurate,

Though it would be hard to prove, the timing is too suspicious to believe he doesn't have influence over trading decisions made on his behalf. And the lack of transparency is troubling too since no one knows if it's his children or some unnamed financial institution managing his investment accounts.

HOLY CR*P 🚨

- Democrats did give MILLIONS of illegals Social Security Numbers
- They were REGISTERING TO VOTE
- Elon Musk has confirmation THEY DID VOTE
- Democrats qualified illegals for MAX SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS
- They enrolled in Medicaid with their new Social Security Numbers

See graph in video:

“Then you'll notice there's a strange, what jumped out at us when we saw these numbers. We're like, what is this? In 2021, you see 270,000 people, it goes all the way to 2.1 million and 2024. These are non-citizens that are getting social security numbers.

This is a mind-blowing charge. This literally blew us away.”

“If I hadn't seen this myself, I'm not sure I believed it. I went through it myself and mapped it. And Elon is right. This is true. The defaults in the system from social security to all of the benefit programs have been set to max inclusion, MAX PAY for these people and minimum collection.

We found 1.3 million of them already on Medicaid as an example. We've gone through on every benefit program we went through, we found groups from this particular group of people, this 5.5 million people in those benefit programs.

And then what was really, really disturbing us was why we're asking ourselves why.
So we actually just took a sample and looked at voter registration records and we found people here registered to vote in this population. Yes.

Who did vote? We found some by sampling that ACTUALLY DID VOTE.

We have referred them to prosecution at the Homeland Security Investigation Service. Yeah. Already, already. That is already happening right now. The truly disturbing thing though, I just want you to know this, a truly disturbing thing to me, and the darkest thing about this, to me, the voter fraud is terrible.”

just read again this morning, Orlando Sentinel, business section..."that neither trump nor his family has any ability to direct, influence or provide input on how the portfolio is invested or when investments are bought or sold"

Now you can believe it or not, but that's what was said.

from google....No evidence exists showing Donald Trump is directly brokering physical oil assets to his campaign supporters. However, federal investigators and media reports have heavily scrutinized ongoing deals, policy favors, and resource allocations involving the administration, Trump's allies, and the fossil fuel industry

But why would Ossoff see a need to make a false statement. He's ahead in the polls, is raising money hand over fist....he must have information that hasn't reached the masses yet. And, it definitely would not surprise me if Ossoff as right and AI is wrong.

that wasn't what I asked..I took the statement from ossoff "is there evidence that Trump is brokering physical assets of oil to campaign contributors".

of course that doesn't mean my google isn't broken...I'll give you that. It's been wrong before.

but you might have changed the direction of the statement...I didn't see a word about lukoil or multi billion dollar acquisition in the original Ossoff statement.

Would you have a problem with a US company or hedge fund or whoever owning a Russian energy company? Not necessarily during the war but after? Seems like it might be a risky adventure in a communist country...look at venezuela and US owned oil.

The exact quote:

"The White House is brokering the sale of billions of Russian energy assets to people who fund the Trump family and the Trump campaign. We're talking oil fields, refineries, gas stations all over the world to be sold to the president's cronies in a deal brokered and backed by the US government."

Do you know what a crony is?

The evidence:

The United States and Russia are negotiating a multibillion-dollar energy deal involving Lukoil's international assets as part of a proposed peace agreement to end the war in Ukraine. The $20 billion transaction would transfer Lukoil's global portfolio of oil fields, refineries, and gas stations to a consortium of investors closely linked to President Donald Trump's administration and family. [1, 2]

The Proposed Asset Sale

Following U.S. sanctions imposed on Lukoil, the company was forced to look into divesting its overseas holdings. The current proposed deal involves a massive portfolio producing over 350,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, alongside three major refineries in Bulgaria, Romania, and the Netherlands. [1, 2, 3]
  • The Investor Consortium: The acquisition group is led by American billionaire Todd Boehly. [1, 2]
  • U.S. Government Stake: The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) is slated to take an approximate 15% equity stake. The structure is designed to funnel billions in future profits directly into the U.S. Treasury. [1, 2, 3]
  • Middle Eastern Backing: More than half of the equity is held by Middle Eastern entities. This includes the Emirati holding company International Holding Company (IHC) and Qatar's Power International Holding. [1, 2]
  • Conflicts of Interest: The primary U.S. negotiators for the peace and energy talks are Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner. Both men have documented business ties to the Middle Eastern funds anchoring the purchase equity. [1, 2, 3]

Now how did he lie??

Now how did he lie??

did I say he lied? That would be out of character for me, I usually don't accuse anybody of lying.

What you posted now is different from the original-- more complete. Like I posted before, I would be really cautious about investing in oil in a communist country. And, I don't know all the facts of this situation and you do have a record of only posting expert comments from people who agree with your position, so can I be just a little cautious before jumping on the deal or the cronies comments. And with a little more digging I see that the investor group includes substantial mid East components as well as a 15% US Government stake. So apparently not all trump cronies and maybe Ossoff might have left out a few of the investors in his remarks, or maybe he simply didn't have all the facts, or maybe he said it it it wasn't reported.

There are so many statements made by politicians and reported in reputable media that turn out to go nowhere, I prefer to keep my angst to actuals. Let's see if a deal is made and by whom.

Oh, supposedly the potential deal is "intertwined" with broader US-Russian negotiations on the Ukraine war. So apparently trump hasn't totally sold old the Ukranians.

Yes, you did say he lied.
But why would Ossoff see a need to make a false statement.

You didn't listen to the video at all did you? Because he mentioned all the partners in the deal. Watch it before you comment on it since he filled in all those blanks you claimed he didn't mention.

now you might have interpreted that my comment about why would he make a false statement as me saying "he lied"...I said that because I saw no reason would he make a false statement, i'e., meaning, he said what he believed to be true, as he was ahead in polls and raking in money. I think your bias might have influenced your comment. You specifiacally say often "he lied" or "liar" I don't.

No i did not listen to his entire statement...is the US government or mid East investors Trump's "cronies"...The US government belongs to the people, The mid East investors? I have no idea. apparently you and Ossoff think so...so ok...

I said watch it before you comment further and you'll clearly understand how they fit under the same umbrella. It's only 3 minutes.

Like I said, not a good look but don't know how you stop or control it
Ned: Billy Beer was promoted by Billy Carter, Jimmy Carter's younger brother. Bill Clinton had nothing to do with Billy Beer.

More importantly, your continuing campaign to liken supposed corruption in prior presidential administrations with what has (and is) happening with Trump and his family/cronies is both laughable and embarrassing. You are simply digging yourself a deeper hole every time you submit a post with that argument.

just read again this morning, Orlando Sentinel, business section..."that neither trump nor his family has any ability to direct, influence or provide input on how the portfolio is invested or when investments are bought or sold"

Now you can believe it or not, but that's what was said.
Uhh, I'm gonna have to go ahead and disbelieve that. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! You should go into stand up. With lines like that, you'd be drawing guffaws galore.

yea I was alive during billy beer, I must have bill Clinton on my mind..the last good president...

You keep making mistakes by thinking I'm making comparisons of corruptions between the guilty. See, in my mind, warped as you might think it is, if you commit one issue of corruption....you're corrupt. You keep comparing saying one corrupt person is more corrupt than another....as if that somehow erases or minimizes the corruption of the other.

I liked it to all the discussions of pedophilia on here...how many children do you have to rape to be a pedophile...in my mind one. Now if someone rapes two, does that make the first less of a pedophile? I don't think so...

there used to be a joke about c---suckers....you're probably old enough to remember. But it went something like this, you could be a standup lawyer (I put that in for your humor) for decades, but suck one c--- and you're forever known as a c---sucker.

Now relate that to corruption....one time corrupt makes you corrupt...

There is a method to my thinking....so if you want to make the cast by adding the word "more" to your discussions of trump vis a vis anyone else, then ok. But that doesn't make the vis a vis person not corrupt....
