Yeah, I thought it was very obvious, but there are exhibits A, B, C and D just in this thread alone.
Fanbase is just angry. And that’s pretty much everyone.
One side is just too angry to hear any nuance that could potentially cast any positive light on the coach. It’s kind of how some people talk about an ex-wife or ex-girlfriend. Literally everything they did was awful and if you say, “She makes a pretty good tuna casserole” you might as well have said she was the perfect mate. Literally just irrational behavior. It’s kind of like how some of these same people will be angry if you don’t say Pope is worse than Billy G… think about that for a moment… they will be angry at you and say you’re “lowering the standards of Kentucky basketball“ while making excuses for a guy who never won a single NCAA tournament game at Kentucky, never had better than an 11 seed here, won only three games against ranked opponents at Kentucky, finished both seasons unranked, missed the NCAA tournament, won only one SEC tournament game, never finished better than 48th in KenPom at UK and did all that with having Ramel Bradley, Joe Crawford, Patrick Patterson, Jodie Meeks, etc on his rosters. These people fail to see how arguing on behalf of an even worse coach means they are lowering the standards EVEN FURTHER than the Popeists they are arguing with.
I’ve learned when someone says that stuff, theres no point listening. They hate Pope so much it has made them goofy. Meanwhile, I‘m upset too — I want to win again. And if Pope can’t do it, no tears will be cried by me. Get down from the podium, we will move on. Next.
