There's over 350M people in the US. 10-15M illegals. Not hard to imagine that *some* of the illegals could illegally cast a ballot some way. Of course, there are other ways to cast a ballot illegally, and we see those too.

The question is whether or not this problem of illegals casting a ballot amounts to anything election changing, anything significant.

That part we have not seen evidenced.

You need to give me the evidence before I'll believe illegals are throwing elections.

You're not giving me that.

The people that make these claims tend to be extremely partisan and not too interested in presenting convincing evidence.

They also also often (functionally) work in service of a president that can't seem to handle the notion that he or his party loses an election fare and square.

It's a big put or shut up scenario here.

They're putting up. They're just talking.

It's really unbecoming.

It's what you would to see from some political party in a third world country.

Not serious stuff.

Literally not one year ago every single liberal on this board was absolutely certain of two things:
Illegals don’t get welfare
Illegals don’t vote

Primarily because it’s illegal and no reasonable person would think that’s acceptable. That’s the problem, not that it’s swinging elections, it’s ILLEGAL.

Now here we are and not only is it happening, the libs are now pivoting to, yes it happening but it doesn’t matter. There’s no more spineless, unprincipled weaklings than liberals. You’re embarrassing to yourself and the country. We either have laws or we don’t.

Are there limits to how much freedom and rights you're willing to give away to stop laws being broken? You present this such that because an insignificant amount of fraud has been caught, any resulting actions are therefore justified. They can clear voting rolls, put armed guards at polling stations, close voting stations in blue areas, delay mail in ballots, attempt to take away the states right to control their own elections, and its all justified because someone might be breaking the law?

I don't know a single person that believes undocumented or non-citizens should be allowed to vote. Not one. We just think freedom is worth the off chance a single non-citizen votes. And we scoff at people believing that it is this HUGE issue that is happening everywhere and swinging elections because a petulant child of a man can accept that he lost an election.

It is amazing to me how every election that Republican's win (currently WH, HoR, and Senate) is above board, and every election that Dems win is because of fraud. Makes one question.

No idiot. I've always maintained that of course there is some (almost always insignificant) level of voter fraud in the system -- multiple types of it. And there has been for many decades of election cycles.

And there have been laws against said fraud...

My point is that we have MAGA sorts decrying this condition as though it's costing them elections, claiming the size of the problem is something it isn't, and using the threat of such as justification to change election law so as to benefit them.


That's what is unacceptable. I think some legitimately believe there are large amounts of fraud and nefarious plots against them; the smarter ones know better and cynically exploit on the basis of BS rhetoric. Those people are completely out of bounds and unacceptable in American politics. MAGA seems to be their home base. Trump ushered in this sort of behavior.

What should be done is enforce the current laws. Just because you say it’s small doesn’t mean we shouldn’t worry about it? What if one child is raped, it’s wrong and should be punished. Anyone paying income taxes should be enraged. They’re stealing from my and your children. It’s wrong. Period.

Is it ok to arrest people who commit traffic violations? If you get caught driving 5mph too fast, should you go to jail?
I ask because a cop totally could arrest you for any traffic violation, if they wanted to. That is the nuance you are missing in this entire conversation.
Now if people were claiming: we have to arrest every person speeding on highway 1, because of all the deaths. But when we go and look, there have been way below average deaths on the road... So people ask: Don't you think you need to provide evidence that its an actual systematic problem before implementing a draconian policy that limits people's freedoms? But you say: THERE WAS A DEATH I SEE YOU DON"T CARE ABOUT DEATHS... you aren't understanding the nuance you are trading liberty for safety. Theres a compromise in there you just will not even acknowledge.

This is impacting every single person that is contributing to our society and paying taxes. So, how is that a small impact, we are all paying for it. If you don’t mind paying, then adopt some of these people and use your own money. This isn’t doing 55mph in a 50mph zone, this is a major problem. Do you agree and do you agree the laws should be enforced?

Yea and it’s not a good argument. He’s using the speeding thing which isn’t applicable and I’ve addressed that. Do you think we should enforce drunk driving? To me there are levels and we have reached a point where stealing tax dollars and voting is now happening. That’s a problem. I’m not sure how you can argue otherwise. Why does something that’s illegal need to cause catastrophic harm before you enforce it, that’s nonsense. There is no compromise to removing illegal immigrants from welfare and voter roles. What could possibly go wrong from removing illegal aliens from those programs that they’re illegally participating in?

A system that only cares about rules when they change outcomes is not a system of rules; it’s a system of outcomes. The same logic would excuse other low-volume illegal acts (a few hundred cases of double voting, ballot stuffing in a local race, etc.) as long as they didn’t decide the presidency. I reject that.
