Good. We are winning. The SEC has been getting killed in these exhibitions
Illini made the final 4 last year?A couple of teams that are highly ranked are fools gold, IMO. Illinois and Texas are the best examples. Underwood and Miller are criminally overrated as coaches.
Underwood has a .637 winning percentage at Illinois. Frank Martin made a final four at South Carolina. That does not make him a good coach either.Illini made the final 4 last year?
Ya but also underwood changed his recruiting with international players the last couple years - he’s got a loaded roster last and this year along with a top 10 nba draft pick he just had with wagler.Underwood has a .637 winning percentage at Illinois. Frank Martin made a final four at South Carolina. That does not make him a good coach either.
I think Underwood is a solid coach. He just went to a final 4. He has been building really good rosters and always finishes among the best in the BIG.A couple of teams that are highly ranked are fools gold, IMO. Illinois and Texas are the best examples. Underwood and Miller are criminally overrated as coaches.
He also lost 39 games his first two years, I’d assume it was a rebuild. Since 2019-2020 including that Covid nonsense he is at almost 72%. He loses more regular season games than most would like at a place like Kentucky, but he’s really had them rolling the past 4-5 years. He has had success in the postseason as well. Since he started going the European route his teams have been really solid. He has a good thing going now, and a system that he is known for and works for him. Coming off a final 4 it’s totally fair where they are ranked this year.Underwood has a .637 winning percentage at Illinois. Frank Martin made a final four at South Carolina. That does not make him a good coach either.
Well, I think we can all agree that only beating Texas Tech by double digits without their star player (despite also dealing with two significant injuries ourselves) in an exhibition game is grounds to fire Pope and cancel the season, and if you disagree with me, you're a sunshine pumper and Pope lover and hate Kentucky and love losing and smell weird and probably kick small dogs and drink Listerine and wish for Kentucky Basketball's demise and actually want UK to win games this season and.......This board overreacting to exhibition game results never fails.
I think Texas is going to have a good team. Did well in the portal and have a good recruiting class. It might take awhile for most teams to play well given new rosters every year now for the majority of schools.Well, I think we can all agree that only beating Texas Tech by double digits without their star player (despite also dealing with two significant injuries ourselves) in an exhibition game is grounds to fire Pope and cancel the season, and if you disagree with me, you're a sunshine pumper and Pope lover and hate Kentucky and love losing and smell weird and probably kick small dogs and drink Listerine and wish for Kentucky Basketball's demise and actually want UK to win games this season and.......
(This is from the perspective of the most sane Pope hater in our fanbase, btw)
Exactly, teams at the beginning of the year won’t look the same in March. Some will be really hot, others may have injuries or have bad chemistry.I think Texas is going to have a good team. Actually think Miller is quite good. Underwood is a mid coach, but they'll be very good. Their best player is hurt right now.A couple of teams that are highly ranked are fools gold, IMO. Illinois and Texas are the best examples. Underwood and Miller are criminally overrated as coaches.
Underwood has a F4 and an Elite 8 in last three years, sent 4 guys to the first round.Underwood has a .637 winning percentage at Illinois. Frank Martin made a final four at South Carolina. That does not make him a good coach either.
Miller isn't bad. Nor is Underwood.A couple of teams that are highly ranked are fools gold, IMO. Illinois and Texas are the best examples. Underwood and Miller are criminally overrated as coaches.
I think you are mistaking reacting with overreacting, which are two different things. But, I’ll digress. This board overreacting to exhibition game results never fails.
The results really mean diddly. To watch and ACTUALLY SEE what’s going on on the court is different. You can see a player like Diallo struggling. You can see a player like Wilkins making bad decisions but also completely going off for a short stretch. You can see McBride trying to keep up. But the results? Meh. I never understood the excitement over the Purdue win. And I never understood the meltdown over the Georgetown beatdown. I think in large part because I wasn’t convinced Purdue was easily the best team in the country and I wasn’t sure really what Georgetown was. The one thing that concerned me was how much more physical Georgetown was. I think that’s the type of thing you can take away from exhibitions.I think Underwood is a solid coach. He just went to a final 4. He has been building really good rosters and always finishes among the best in the BIG.
These games are exhibitions and they mean absolutely nothing. Most coaches use it for something other than practice against themselves and to work on a few things they want to while preparing the team for the real games about to start.
That is exactly right. You cannot take exhibition results in any way as actual results. Coaches coach different in exhibition, players play different in exhibition, rotations are different in exhibition, key plays are not used in exhibition. Exhibition is more for coaches to see how players respond in certain situations, etc... We will all find our soon enough who is who when real games start. I enjoy these exhibition games because it gives me a chance to watch the Cats in action. I do not get much excitement watching other team's exhibition games right now. Things are much different when the games count. This board overreacting to exhibition game results never fails.
Dude has either finished 1st or 2nd in his league in half of his 13 yrs. Also an EE and FF. He’s not elite, but he’s not mid either. Pretty solid.Underwood has a F4 and an Elite 8 in last three years, sent 4 guys to the first round.
They just beat Cincinnati at Cincinnati by 9 and were a FF team last year.A couple of teams that are highly ranked are fools gold, IMO. Illinois and Texas are the best examples. Underwood and Miller are criminally overrated as coaches.
Exhibition games mean NOTHING guys.. last year we beat the #1 Purdue and you know how that turned out
I give him lot's of credit. He pioneered this who Euro thing and it's working well for him. He's used a heavy dose of analytics to put together a really efficient offense.Dude has either finished 1st or 2nd in his league in half of his 13 yrs. Also an EE and FF. He’s not elite, but he’s not mid either. Pretty solid.
