Remember when we thought that our pass defense would be pretty elite this season?

With an NFL 1st round pick at one CB position, a solid CB on the other side of the field, and a group of safeties that we thought was pretty deep, can someone explain this to me?

I get that we're not Oklahoma or LSU, but DEAD LAST by 16 yards??? Oh, and you want to feel even worse? This is a full 40 yds/game worse than Hutzler's 2025 defense. How is this even possible?

Having zero DL for 6-7 years now is what’s killing us. We’re last in sacks and pressures for that period of time. It won’t get better until that improves. I don’t care who our corners and safeties are.

Starting with Fletcher Cox we went on a run with him, Autry, Sweat, Preston Smith, Crumedy, Chris Jones, Simmons etc. We haven’t sniffed a DL like that since then

Plus, we do stupid things. Why Kelly Jones didn't follow the ONE Oklahoma WR that could burn us everywhere he went made ZERO sense. Of all the explosive plays to Sategna, not once was he being covered by KJ. Idiotic.

We have one of the best cover corner duos in the conference. But we're not playing them to their strengths because the front seven is atrocious.

Question about this, honestly don't know but weren't most of those DL from MS? Have momma's stopped feedingtheir boys to grow up big and strong? Are we missing on in state talent? I'm pretty sure the answer is yes. Would love a coach who hit MS hard to get the players to win here! I still think the football talent is here to bring in and do some development. Maybe they leave for NIL maybe they don't, I miss high school signing days when it meant something. Ok no more nostalgia.

To be fair, our CBs have been pretty good. Teams are killing us in the middle of the field (Safeties).

Who is we??? Don’t care if you have Deion and Richard Sherman on the corners, when you have no pass rush it doesn’t matter. We have not recruited DL worth a damn for 5 years and it shows. HS MS 4 star DL still matter.
