I need some hope for something positive prior to baseball season. Any of you know anything about our basketball roster/rotation that may give some hope? In today's landscape, I'm not even sure who is on the team beyond Hubbard and King Grace.
12th in the Conference would probably be a NCAA Tourney berth which is acceptable to meI haven't been carrying this little excitement for a basketball season since the Rick Ray era. It would be shocking if we are anywhere above 12th in the conference and being deadass last is not out of the question.
We're favored by all of 18.5 points against the mighty Tennessee Tech tonight (while our SEC brethren are typically favored by around double that against what is probably similar or better competition). Tennessee Tech, who have a new coach, and only 8 of their 15 players even have a photo on their team page on ESPN. Tennessee Tech, who brought in transfers from powerhouses such as Stone Hill, Lemoyne, UT Rio Grande Valley, USF, and Grambling. If that spread turns out to be anything close to legitimate, it's not going to bode well for us. This is a horrible, horrible team we're playing tonight. ESPN BPI has them as the 287th best team in college basketball. That's one spot higher than the mighty Bellarmine Knights, which are 35.5 point dogs to Vanderbilt tonight. If the team I saw play Memphis in the exhibition is who we are, prepare to be disappointed.

No inside presence-check
Looks like all the boxes are checked just like the previous 2 years. Although I'm holding out on Tristan Reed in the post. He looked pretty good for a freshman and way better than Okafor. Not sure what the issue is with Bartlett. He lost a bunch of weight but he didn't even bother to take his warmups off and he looked pretty disinterested during all the time outs.
Man I hope I'm wrong.
Nobody wants to guard any more. They just wanna chuck up 3's. I hate the way the game has evolved over the years.I hope I’m wrong, but I said it last season, and I still feel the same way. I’m not convinced Jans has adapted, or can adapt, to this new era of college basketball. I think he would have been a great coach in the Bobby Knight era, but the game has changed, and I’m not sure his coaching style translates as well today.

Memphis has already pushed our **** in an exhibition. Penn State is terrible.

Might want to fine tune your chat gpt basketball questions. UCF is not in the top half of the Big 12. They are bottom quarter unless our boy Riley Kugel turns into an All American. (Or maybe Dior Johnson). Buy Johnny Dawkins is on my short list of all time favorite Blue Devils so I will be pulling for them. Tulsa is a total rebuild. Who knows with them. If we are 1-2 or 0-3 in that group of teams, you can close the book on the season and on Jans. And Wake for sure did not get better. They lost their best player Juke Harris to Tennessee. They might be the worst team in the ACC, for sure bottom quarter.I expect us to be somewhere between 3-7 wins in the SEC and there is a better than average chance we have a losing record in November.
November schedule:
Tennessee Tech
Northwestern State
Jackson State
Should win all three of these. If any of these are nerve racking, it will be a long season.
Xavier (at Greenbriar)
at UCF
Tulsa (at Jackson)
Xavier is coming off a losing season, but they should be improved. UCF is a top half of the Big 12 team and made the tournament last year. Tulsa won 30 games last year and lost the NIT championship game. 2-1 in this group of three would be great.
Battle4 Atlantis Thanksgiving Week
Wake Forest
Wake was an NIT team last year and is much improved. Hopefully they are pissed that we are taking their football coach.
Memphis or Penn State
Memphis has already pushed our **** in an exhibition. Penn State is terrible.
