I’ll be the first to admit.. a month ago I would’ve said the chance of winning 2 league games all year was way higher than starting 2-0. And there was plenty of bad play to back up those odds.

But hey.. I’m happy to eat crow.
This is not the same team we watched just three weeks ago.

credit to Jan's for finally getting through to them.

It really took Jan’s a while to get to his rotations but in todays age with new team every year, get used to it.

Look across the board…lots of bad early losses for a lot of teams. This is the new college basketball

Really probably need to get to 12. I think we can get to that though oddly
Doable if we hold serve at home. But that’s a tall task against Bama, Vandy, Tenn , Arkie, and Georgia all coming in as ranked teams.

8 more and we are most definitely in. Will have to beat some ranked teams and that would be enough.

We look to be improving. Let's make it so- game by game.

We are definitely playing better. I think Texas and Oklahoma are probably bottom half of the league teams, but we’ve really looked like a much improved team that’s starting to put it together.

Find a way to steal one of these next two against Kentucky and Bama and you can really start to talk about what it would take to make the tourney. Kentucky is 9-6 (0-2) and Bama, while good, is a step down from the last year + the game next week is at our place, so hey you never know.

Must be no worse than 3-2 after the Ole Miss game next Saturday, and 4-1 would be great given the hole we dug in nonconference.

Everybody on this board had us starting 2-0 in the SEC.
I had us going 1-1 at this point. Going forward, the blueprint for our opponents is without a doubt.....Stop Hubbard at all costs. Double team, triple team, whatever. Hope our supporting cast can pick up the slack in case he gets slowed down a little or a lot. Great win. I had us losing at Texas and beating OK at home. The Dogs now have my curiosity. If we were to win at UK, they will certainly have my attention.

Winning 12 requires us to beat all 6 of the not or borderline tourney teams and 4 clear tourney teams. Tall task.

They're playing better and fun to watch now, but realistically, these were winnable games and we won them. To feel like they're actually a team that deserves NCAA consideration, they're going to need multiple wins over NCAA teams. Right now they might have one.

KY rarely loses 2 in a row at home. Now that Mizzou has taken them to the woodshed, they are as mad as a hornet nest being jabbed with a stick. Gonna be a real tough pull to go in there and repeat what Mizzou did. But who knows.....that's why we play the game Jack!

We jumped up 14 spots in the NET to 83rd last night. We have two Quad 1 games in our next two. If we can go 1-1, that should put us in the top 70, needing to climb about 30 spots over our last 14 games. That is very doable.

For a team ranked 70th, Quad 1 wins typically raise you about 8-12 spots and Quad 2 wins about 5-8. Those numbers drop about 40 percent when you get in the top 50, but the key is losses don’t have the same affect.

I’m not a huge basketball fan but I watched for the first time last night with friends and have to say State looked solid. Much better than I thought based on early season message board chatter. I’ll have to tune in again.

It’s so sad we had a horrible non con. This team is playing well, and have improved a ton.
Yeah.

heck, they were triple teaming him at times last night, held him to only 1 made 3-point shot & he still got 30.

Misleading stat. They don’t lose many at home period. But this isn’t your usual Kentucky team.

That was the best game I have ever seen Hubbard play. He took what the defense was giving him instead of jacking up contested threes. If he keeps that up he is going to be even more of a handful than he has been for defenses.

Personally, I've mentally thrown that sort of historic trend out in the age of NIL and the transfer portal. Other than Iowa football will always have a good D under Ferentz, there seem to be no guarantees in college sports anymore.

If you listened to Jans during his post game shows he said as much. He knew he had the talent but he said it was taking time to get them playing together.
