Figured the most popular and controversial thread on ITS needed to be revived over here. To any newbies….this is a semi safe space. A place to gripe about coaches, clubs, referees (sorry Bla) and youth soccer in general. All our kids are on a direct path to the US National team so keep your negative comments about them to yourself. Feel free to make up a fictitious kid if your child isn’t currently involved in youth soccer. We are an inclusive bunch.

The old thread will exist again once all the historical message boards and posts are ported over this week.

A place to read the past horrors of Tulsa youth soccer history, as well as the fulfilled dreams and positive poignant moments. Also, a place to dream a more connected, collaborative, and community-centered youth soccer community.

I read the entire history of the other thread it took me about six weeks. I feel like I know the participants from reading your journey through the years. My daughter and I watched two of your games online from nationals! 2010 FC Dallas v. SLSG and 2011 Energy v. Nationals FC. 🫶

Ironically our 6-0 win against SLSG was the most lopsided game in the entire 2010 slate. Just bad luck we got Slammers Koge in our pool. We might win 1 out of 15 against them…might. I thought they were the best team my kid has ever played against. They were also the biggest team she’s ever played.

Now we get a month off before it’s on to next season. Training starts back up the first of August with round robin friendlies in Frisco the second week of the month and the beginning of league play around Labor Day.

Is it bad that when I saw “Delusional Youth Soccer Parent Thread” I knew exactly which thread had been resurrected? 🤣

sounds like the Slammers game was epic!

The SLSG game was really fun to chat about with my daughter as we watched. I think the foil between the teams made everything more obvious around differences in strategy, tactics, technical skills, athleticism, etc. Fun and educational I can see how it’s helpful to watch together.

enjoy your break while it lasts.

An epic *** kicking :)

The SLSG game was interesting in that we had an outside chance to reach the round of 16 in goal differential. We played very aggressive game and were indeed intending to run up the score. Why you saw us running the ball back to the midfield line after every goal.

Despite the humor, it won't stay premium content. After these next few days or a week pass, only the alley will be premium, like before.

Gmoney….any chance you become a regular delusional soccer parent thread poster ?

Yes…when it goes back to a ghetto board our posts will once again be screenshotted and shared throughout the Tulsa youth soccer world.

Nah, I'm content adding to the conversation on the rare occasion I have a comment. I don't have a dog in the fight,(kid) so I don't feel the urge to contribute. I feel like I'm a neophyte to hardcore conversations about soccer as well. I never played on a team that would play the ball backwards. It was just kickball moving forward on most of the teams I played on. And the only coach I had that was any good was not great. I enjoy reading the things contributed to soccer in this and the USMNT though, and wish I had heard those type of conversations when I was 7-10 years old.

Also I usually like to complain about the a**0 as much as contributing to the conversation, and there's only one minor a0 in the bunch so far, & he is so minor it's nothing to write home about. Poke hater occasionally sounds like he is a k(no)w it all.

When I was young and playing soccer in the mid 70's- mid 80's it was early days of youth soccer becoming popular. There were pioneer youth soccer organizations that were ahead of their time. Some of those programs from memory were Portland, Seattle, Denver, San Diego, LA, St Louis, and Broken Arrow.(not Tulsa) Am I wrong in including Broken Arrow in this list. And the main reason for posting this is to ask why BA is not still a strength in the soccer youth market, and why BA's soccer league is not more competitive with Tulsa.? I realize the market place is bigger in Tulsa, but is that the lone reason? It doesn't even sound like BA is a close 2nd to Tulsa. The way I would think it might still be is comparable to Edmond or that other place you guys have mentioned that I can't remember, and don't have the old ported threads to look it up.

Youth soccer is now largely tiered by which platform the club plays under. The BA clubs have never been able to garner an ECNL invitation. Top players generally want to play in the best leagues against the best competition. This has relegated the BA clubs to a rec plus status. BA Express is making strides imo but is still limited by not having ECNL, ECRL or GA. There’s no doubt their facilities are among the tops in the area. They simply lack a competitive platform

It's bugging me that one area I can't remember. Edmond and ?. For some reason I want to say Mustang, but that doesn't sound right. Its high school program is strong, as much as or more than its youth leagues.

On the girls side Norman is very good at the high school level. Edmond will always be good due to it’s proximity to Energy

No that's not it. For some reason I associate it with wild horses. I think TUBla might have been the one to first mention it. It could have been Yukon, but I don't think that's it either.

It might be the wild west that I associate this town or area with. Seems like the recent team is very tall or large.

Looks like our first games this season are in Austin and San Antonio.

Team manager says we have "quite a bit of travel".

I bet that was part of WSA getting NL. "You all have to travel at first".

That’s pretty standard. Should mean you don’t have to make the Houston trip.

Your next set of game are Sting Royal and FC Dallas at home btw…as long as the schedule doesn’t change :). Sept 20 and 21st

So is this a team that was at the ECNL level and got dropped to ECRL, because of the recent reorganization of leagues that each of the clubs belongs to? Or is this a team that has been at the level of ECRL for some time?

The team itself has never been an ECNL team. They were fortunate enough to grab several ECNL level girls from TSC over the past few years due to the dysfunctional nature of TSC. They’ve been fairly equal in quality to TSC’s 09 NL team over the past two years imo. They will have a shot to finish .500 next year in Texas league ECNL imo.

IIRC There are some NL girls on this squad currently, too...

Mustang is usually pretty good in boys soccer. I can't speak much to the girls side. They have grass playing fields and full grass practice facilities that are phenomenal.

I remembered it after all then. That's pretty phenomenal for my crap memory. (memory was a casualty of the stroke) I remember the men's side was talked about now that you mention it.

Congrats to the 2009 WSA RL girls on winning the ECRL national championship this am. It will be very interesting to see how that group and a few NL TSC girls fare in NL this upcoming season.

Anyone see a GA schedule yet?
I have seen the home schedule. Not sure why someone who doesn't play GA would care? But I believe off the top of my head 9 home games. Also hosting a friendlies weekend in August with Energy and another team. We will also play both TSC tournaments. Considering we had to play league in Dallas to have any competition that's a lot of time at home. The 13's do have 3 girls that will play with FC Dallas and Sting when we don't have conflicts. Should be interesting.

I care because it seems that so little info about GA was shared and I am curious to see if that continues to be true for TSC. Again, that's just based on our experience with the club.

How many games do y'all have scheduled for the season?

Do teams play each other twice a season in GA?

I haven't seen the road schedule yet. I'm sure we are going to St. Louis, Houston, Dallas x 2, Florida for showcase.

Also: I care because there were a lot of kids that left WSA for GA when they previously stated they were fine with playing RL at WSA. I wonder if travel was a part of their choice, as the RL teams are set to travel with NL teams.
