Also: I care because there were a lot of kids that left WSA for GA when they previously stated they were fine with playing RL at WSA. I wonder if travel was a part of their choice, as the RL teams are set to travel with NL teams.
Everyone needs to do what best for their kid. Travel and costs play a huge role for families. People who were saying GA travel was going to be awful were just people who didn't know. All travel at a high level is a lot. I'm not pro NL or GA. I have no idea where my kid will be in 3-4 years. I'm pro Nathan Doll and I'm pro this team. I am also pro WSA and Blitz because I have a lot of friends there (when not playing us obviously)

For sure. I'm not condemning anyone. I'm only curious about what the schedule actually looks like vs promises / rumors.

Any recommendations on futsal training / programs available in Tulsa? We were a part of a training group last season that was very effective and I hope it continues but I haven’t heard yet if it will be starting back up in fall.

I saw benefits in the training for my daughter … also interested in hearing others thoughts on pros/cons of futsal as supplemental training.

also kudos to TSC 13g futsal team for making it to national championship! 🥳👏

I’m a fan of training and playing as many small side competitions as you can at the academy ages. Futsal is a great supplement for touch, passing and off the ball movement. I also like high level 3v3 but I’m not aware of anyone local who is playing on a national level.

Futsal options are limited here in Tulsa. Leo is a futsal wizard but the goal of having him in charge of a large TSC futsal program has largely vanished due to the need for soccer coaches at TSC. 7 years ago there was a futsal facility out in Coweta ran by JM and Moritz where kids could open train and play open pickup games almost every night of the week. Those days are sadly gone in part due to Covid

I think Joao still runs a year round futsal.
I always forget about Blitz-FC Tulsa. Joao certainly has lots of futsal courts at Titan to train so it does make sense for them to have a year round program.

FCD 10s open up fall camp this coming Sunday with a fitness test and then start team trainings a week from today in the mornings. On paper we should be improved but it’s hard to say until you see how the new players fit with the existing squad. Last season it took the girls a good two months to mesh together. Can’t afford a start like that again. We’re also at the age where the focus is changing to recruiting for most of the girls. When “how did I play in front of the scouts” becomes as if not more important than “how did the team play”. Is what it is. At the end of the day the fact remains….the better the team the more high profile games you will get which translates into the more eyeballs watching.

I’m really interested in how the WSA NL team fare this season. Most of them have seen a significant number of girls move to Energy or other ECNL clubs. The 09 team is especially interesting. How does that team who won the ECRL national title plus a few key additions compete in NL? I expect them to be the best WSA side and probably by a large margin. We should find out shortly as WSA opens league against FCD and Sting Royal August 23 and 24.

We're going to play pre-season friendlies in Kansas City in two weeks. That will give us an idea of how the teams look. Playing 2 SLSG teams and KCA.

That’s a solid slate of games. You should get a very good idea as to where the team stands. Let us know how it goes up there.

I plan to watch the WSA/FC Dallas's 13's as my daughter has friends on both teams and we are off. Futsal nationals was rough on us physically. One of our best players lost to broken foot, my daughter in a boot. Goalie's arm looks terrible. We start GA IN Dallas Labor Day weekend.

Schedule worked out perfectly for Cyp. His daughter gets to play the opening weekend for FCD in Tulsa then suits up the next weekend for TSC.

Sorry to hear about the futsal injuries. My kid played a lot of futsal and we never saw that amount of injuries. Hate to see the regular soccer season adversely affected by summer futsal.

Please keep us updated on your GA journey this fall. I’m expecting big things from your team. If you’re in the area when FCD 10s are playing WSA stop by and say hi. FCD 09s, 10s and 11s all play high level soccer. I think your daughter would enjoy watching any of those teams.

Y'all probably would've won if Rachel wasn't hurt. Back to back finalists is no small feat though. Congrats to y'all!

Heading into pre-season friendlies this weekend. My daughter has strained her hip, so her minutes will be pretty limited, but it's still exciting.

Good luck in KC. KC Athletics and SG Navy are both very good squads. Should give you a fairly good idea where your teams stands

ECNL schedules are now up on their app. Texas league Championship league playoff spots have been reduced from 6 to 4 in U16. Not sure if other ages have been reduced as well.

Thank you!

I saw that the Energy 12G NL team has a new coach. That's interesting. I wonder what that's about.

Seems he's at Greenwood now. I wonder if his daughter is playing with a boys team now.

Most clubs switch coaches of their teams every two or so years. Stephen Phillips is the new 12 NL coach. He’s also the director there. He dropped off the 10 NL team and moved to the 12s. Moritz (who has Tulsa ties) now coaches 10 NL over there.

I've heard the same thing about Gibson, who had the 12s but is now with Greenwood.
My experience with Moritz is he was the Union HS boys coach and a good friend of mine was an assistant coach with him (this person coached my son for 3 years at the youth level and then again when my son got to Union). All I was told is he tended to play his favorites and maybe not the best players all the time. I have no idea if that is something that carries over to the youth sides. He has coached at a lot of different levels, even think he was either the head coach or assistant coach at a non D1 college (girls). That said, he knows his stuff but he gets a little harsh when mistakes are made. Not sure how that works with 13 and 14 year olds.

We are headed to Ft Worth the 16th & 17th for friendlies against DKSC and Sting Black. We have Sporting Blue valley at home this Sunday. It will be interesting to see how those games compare to the HTX, BVB and Lou Fusz teams of GA. None will be easy.......

I can’t imagine occasional “harshness” will be an issue with high level U16 ECNL girls. I would argue it’s the norm at that age and level. Almost every one of those girls will be playing college soccer in a few years. Best they get used to a little tough love when they screw up.

As far as a high level soccer coach…he’s one of the best in the state. The U16 Energy team is a very talented bunch with three high level Tulsa girls. They should do well under Moritz. Will be interesting to see if they can make nationals since there are only four Champions League playoff spots for U16 Texas league this year.

We are in Fort Worth for friendlies on those dates as well. Are you playing at Rolling Hills? Do you know which GA teams are attending?

The difference between the WSA 12s and the TSC 12s as a team is massive.
The 12s absolutely dominated the first game against slsg 12 green. Our defense seems pretty good, they work together well, they built out from the back, etc.

My daughter scored the clubs first NL goal. SLSG scored on a free kick that was pretty perfect and were given a goal that was very clearly not a goal. We ended up losing despite having like, 90% possession, etc. WSA 12s were clearly the better team overall.

When I was young and playing soccer in the mid 70's- mid 80's it was early days of youth soccer becoming popular. There were pioneer youth soccer organizations that were ahead of their time. Some of those programs from memory were Portland, Seattle, Denver, San Diego, LA, St Louis, and Broken Arrow.(not Tulsa) Am I wrong in including Broken Arrow in this list. And the main reason for posting this is to ask why BA is not still a strength in the soccer youth market, and why BA's soccer league is not more competitive with Tulsa.? I realize the market place is bigger in Tulsa, but is that the lone reason? It doesn't even sound like BA is a close 2nd to Tulsa. The way I would think it might still be is comparable to Edmond or that other place you guys have mentioned that I can't remember, and don't have the old ported threads to look it up.

No, BA wasn't that great, except in people's heads. I played on a great BA team that won state, and we beat the North Texas State champs once. They wacked us out at Regionals.

They have nice fields. They lack the population, and people don't want to train there. Sorry, sad truth. The BA team I played on didn't train there. We trained in Tulsa.

Express has a weird notion that they will recreate some kind of glory days that were never really there. They are entirely delusional.
