Thanks for the info. The info I got from assignors that responded was that in the rec/rec+ levels, there's probably some grace, especially the younger ages and refs are to encourage the players to play quicker. Seems like once we get to 11v11, everyone is indicated we will follow the FIFA prescribed protocols. Like I said, this past weekend I did it just to get that practice since it is new and a change...and the players, especially in competitive leagues it sounds like, will need to adapt as well.

I get in preseason games refs are "lax". It's not really lax. I had a couple girls with jewelry on that I didn't notice until late in my first game on Saturday. I let it slide but made mention to each of the coaches after the game to remember to be properly equipped for any actual games and that included removed necklaces and earrings. Coach was a little peeved at the girls and was like "It's not like they've been playing for 5-6 years".

2nd game, U16s, had a girl with a foul from behind, intently to stop a promising attack. I whistled for the foul and flat out told the player if this had been a real game where we were keeping score, she'd be getting a yellow. Plus referees don't want to waste their time writing down yellow card info when it's going nowhere and has no implications down the line. Heck, even if a fight broke out and I had to actually show a red in a scrimmage, I'm not sure who that would be reported to since the games don't have match numbers associated with them. When you issue a red card, there's a whole report on the USSF site that you have to fill out. Refs have to know their USSF Badge #, match #, game time/date, field and complex, teams involved, both coaches. Apparently USSF keeps a database and for normal RCs I don't think it's a big deal/ For violent conduct, slightly bigger deal and now with the new ref abuse, you get a RC for that and you can forget about playing (or coaching or attending) for a while.

I know, it is like chill, homies. Work on some stuff you wouldn't otherwise attempt in the season, try a set play or two, attempt a different position. It was hotter than hadies etcc. Don't do dumb stuff.

We pounded the bejesus out of a team from out of state that thought they were badass, who apparently were not very used to losing, let alone losing super bad. The end of the game was ugly. There were familial connections between the teams, and we were actually kind of rooting for the kids as they took each other on at times, etc...

It was pretty chill between the parents and coaches. The players were getting rowdy, which the parents from both teams discussed after the game, with the usual "boys will be boys" attitude discussions.

Scores are about to start counting over the next couple weeks. I'm hoping to catch the 13's WSA/FC Dallas game this weekend. We start Labor Day with Surf and BVB (have beat us last 2 times).

How does the GA nationals work? How many teams from each age group in the Frontier qualify for the top division at nationals? Are there multiple divisions at nationals ?

Hard to believe our season starts in 3 days against WSA

What is the word out of WSA? Samesy, better, worse? Depends on the Age group?

My guess :

13s worse as the top girls stayed at TSC
12s should be slightly better
11s hard to see how they will be better considering the girls lost to Energy
10s about the same
09s better
08s this age group is so bad statewide the idea of better/worse is relative

What's bad about the 13's is they lost one who dropped back to the 14's (had played 3 years with 13's), 2 of their best players went to Blitz (including Bush's niece o_O)

I love a lot of these girls......It's not going to be just "rough" I'm not sure what you call it??? FC Dallas could hang 20 plus on them if they choose. ECNL has a problem in this market and no one has the solutions.......

The solution would be one team for the entire state. Okc and Tulsa girls train in their respective cities twice a week and then train together once a week. Most of those teams would compete for champions league spots every year. DA had that exact model for Oklahoma back in the day.

I am sorry that is not the case. You could also make this argument about some of the Texas teams that consistently finish near the bottom.

We have had very, very successful Tulsa teams. Some years are better than others. Some years, some kids decide to hang out with other teams. Now, some of our best players are moving on to OKC and Dallas. That is entirely their choice, but it has become way more pervasive than ever before. It is ridiculous.

Adding more clubs to the RL platforms will dilute the top teams. They are out there promoting a weird notion that they will gain access to top platforms through relegation/promotion or the addition to NL. The weird things I hear out there are amazing.

I think the 12s can win one of their games this weekend.
The 10s have some injuries that is really gonna make it hard for them to compete.

In my totally not biased opinion:

The 12s should fair better this year than last year. Our defense is a lot better than it was previously and so is our midfield. The girls create a lot of opportunity to score so far, but we'll see how it goes.

There are multiple teams that we should've beaten last year and should beat this year, but you can never tell until the final whistle.

It’s absolutely the case. You combine the top girls from Tulsa and Okc and most of those teams will be able to compete for those top 4 spots in the Texas conference. It’s been years since we’ve had very successful girls teams in the Texas league. The success we did have was prior to the collapse of DA and ECNL realignment in Texas. Those days are gone. The Texas league is far superior today than it was when those Tulsa teams were experiencing the success you mentioned. Now can we still occasionally have a girls team finish top 4 in league…yes. Can we consistently have teams finish top 4 in this new environment…I don’t see it. Keeping girls home will indeed improve our Tulsa teams. It won’t be enough in most years. Overall talent just isn’t here.

Adding RL clubs isn’t diluting the top teams. There are few girls playing RL who would make a difference on our NL teams. Talent gap is just too wide. Now TSC getting GA may very well dilute the talent pool in NL but that remains to be seen. The risk is there though

Beating the FCD 12s will be a tall task. No clue how good the Royal 12s will be this season.

I’m not sure WSA wins a single game this weekend to be honest. Cheering for them though…. Except the 10s :)

Royal this year is Black from last year. Literally the coach from Sting Black went to Royal and took his entire team.

FCD is no joke. They very well may just kick our teeth in. Maybe beating KCA gave me false hope 😅

I'm hoping my daughter will be able to get meaningful minutes. She's been out most of the week trying to get over a straining hip flexor that's also caused some sciatic nerve pain. Lots of stretching and resting for her.

What team does your daughter play for? My son is an AR for the 2013 ECNL WSA vs Sting game tomorrow morning. I am doing 2 games on Sunday but I believe they ar RL.

WSA plays FC Dallas tomorrow and Sting on Sunday. Could be a long weekend for the WSA 13NL girls

I’m on both of the U13 NL games (Saturday at River Parks and Sunday at West Bank). My son is on the one tomorrow. He’s at River Parks on Sunday. I picked up a center for the U13 RL game tomorrow. I’ll be on field 2 at 9am and field 6 at 11 if anyone wants to say hi or just hear parents yell at me 🤣

I watched the game. Very impressed by the progress of the 12s. Congrats on the result

Thank you! Hopefully we can start scoring more. My daughter was still not 100% but played 3/4 of the game.

I'm really pleased with our defense. They work really hard back there.

12's seem better. FC Dallas won 2-0 last year against the 12's. WSA lost 5-1 in the 11s. (Score update ECNL had it wrong)
FC Dallas 13's won 13-0 today.
I didn't see a single ECNL sign, tent etc.?

the lack of ECNL signage was odd. Maybe we just don’t have it yet. Idk.

No I had U13 RL at 9am, and U13 NL at 11. These games were not competitive. RL lost 8-0, NL lost 13-0. I have both those teams again tomorrow vs Sting out at West Bank. From what I could gather, there weren’t many competitive games as part of this fixture. Yours was the score that seemed competitive at all.

The ECNL sign was on field 10. The tents were all WSA branded. At least at River Parks (Case).

I was on the U13 game. They’re just really really bad. This game was not competitive at all. WSA had zero shots and let’s just say I pretty much stood at MF in the second half after running my *** off in the first half. I have no idea why Kokis was insisting his team even try to play out of the back after the first couple attempts ended really really badly.

Now the FC Dallas side was big, and fast, and strong. My son was also on the game and he didn’t understand why the FC Dallas coach put his top forwards in the game late with them up 9-0. I was pretty sure he stuck to his planned rotation and sub schedule. One girl scored 7 goals. And they also hit 5-6 posts/crossbars. The pace of play was so drastically different. The FC Dallas players were pinging passes that you expect at a high level where the WSA girls were trying to finesse passes in and they never reached their intended targets. Hopefully the WSA girls took notes and understand the speed and quality they need to raise their game to.

I was on the sidelines supporting those girls this game as my daughter trains with the 13s (the 14s often cross train with them) and has several friends on the team.

The parents all know this season is going to be difficult as the coaches have been very transparent. I admire the grit these families have. It can’t be easy to go into a season and know you are the spotlighted underdog. The parents I’ve spoken to have a balanced perspective. One told me yesterday that his goal this season is that the experience will help his daughter realize hard work and challenge are a constant part of life.

Much love to the WSA 2013s bc as someone born and raised in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex I can say that there is hardly anything more Texan than standing back up off the ground again to face a difficult situation when you’ve been knocked down 12 times.

Regarding building out of the back against a much higher level opponent, I’ve seen this come up a few times in the past year. I’ve watched two coaches stick with a build-out system even against teams we knew were going to overwhelm us. My assumption was that they were treating the match as a high-stakes, high-pressure training lab.

In more evenly matched games, those same coaches were more flexible and willing to adjust to chase a win. I always figured they knew we could lessen the pain by going long, but instead chose the trial by fire path for development.

So my question is: if you know your build-out system is going to get punished by a clean high press and the odds of winning are slim, what’s the right call?

U17 is an odd year. So many of those girls are on college visits. RL players being called up to get a chance to play in from of some college coaches. Winning isn’t necessarily the priority anymore. It’s getting committed. FCD 09s are a top 10 team when they have a full squad. Something which won’t happen for awhile

Energy didn't have a great weekend and they have most of the best kids in Oklahoma. WSA may be marginally better but they scored "Zero" goals in 6 games today. Most TSC teams will struggle. Not a good look for girls soccer in Oklahoma.
