Who has worked with Stefan that was working with JM? Thoughts?

we’ve worked with him. I like his intensity — he is focused, high energy, but in a generative manner rather than punitive.

We only had a few sessions bc our training schedule is maxed right now but initial impression was positive.

Coach Alex from T90 Futbol has a program that is small groups, focused on technical proficiency and uses small sided games to apply concepts that he teaches. We'll get with him in the late spring after Futsal.

congrats on the new path for your younger one. We love Alex, my daughter has attended T90 many times (camps mostly) and he runs a great experience.

Over the past two weekends the WSA 2014 13-RL group faced both Energy's 2014 Flight 1 and Flight 2 teams, and the TSC 2014 Flight 1 team.

Results

WSA 1–0 OEFC (Flight 1)
WSA 4–0 OEFC (Flight 2)
WSA 2–0 TSC (Flight 1)

Fun games to watch. All three groups have real talent. Local rivalry brings out the competitive edge, so the intensity was high all around.

With WSA doing better than some might have thought, I'd bet there could be some that have previously left for Energy decide to come back.

Or maybe they like making that drive to OKC... who knows.

What were the expectations? I definitely don’t think anyone should write them off yet and clubs deserve at least 2 years (to show progress) but they are not doing very well. And parents deciding to drive to OKC or out of state for a team, usually has less to do with winning and more to do with quality coaching, club culture, facilities, etc. Which most Tulsa clubs have been lacking in for years. Also, WSA has got to do something about those facilities. Those fields are a deal breaker for many people.

Happy for that team. They’re fun to watch and it looks like they’ve finally caught up to speed of the game at that level when most are playing up an age group.

They’re the top 2014 girls team in the state. Hoping they can make some noise next year in the Texas League 2014 NL division

Sadly…I believe there will be one ECNL team in Oklahoma five years from now. Likely a combined team with girls from Tulsa and OKC.

The best thing WSA could do other than improve the quality of their teams is to come into next season with two high quality playing fields for ECNL play.

That depends on who you ask.

Some, who have 0 experience in NL, have posted that Tulsa simply can't compete in TX NL.

I don't think that is something you can judge by the first year performance. In 3 years? 4 years? We can start talking about it.

Big (and frigid) weekend ahead for WSA and Energy as they head to KC for an ECNL showcase. Not sure the logic of holding a showcase in KC in the middle of December but here we are. Practically every college program will have coaches there scouting so good luck to all the attendees.

We are also headed to KC to play in the KC Current / College Cup tourney. We open play on Friday at 2pm against the defending national champs. It’s a great field with 5 of the 8 teams competing ranked in the top 10 nationally. If we can survive the cold it should be fun. Hopefully we can draw some scouts away from the Showcase to a few of our games.

The 12NL team has transitioned to the winter program, which means: team trainings on Monday / Thurs, performance training as a group on Tuesdays and a futsal match on Fridays.

TSC did Futsal stuff, and I loved it. I think Futsal is an incredible tool and sport.

What TSC never did, at least in my experience, is put the resources into organizing this level of performance training for a group. The girls go to Next Level Athletics and all train together. That's pretty awesome.

Next Level? Isn't that way too much like East Side for West Side?

Futsal is okay, I guess, if it is done once a week. I think it should be played more often to really reap the benefits.

1) Are they playing in a futsal league?

2) What does the spring schedule look like? Assume you’re going to the Dallas Showcase. Anything else ?

Mira pretty east if you consider Mingo to be east Tulsa lol.

i believe they’re playing in the FC Tulsa futsal league.

I need to check the schedule. We have the T town showcase and I’d imagine the Dallas showcase, too.

Those courts are too small for 2012s to play futsal on imo if they play on the basketball courts as marked. Hopefully they will find a way to expand those courts for the games.

That would be cool. They are so tiny and I think that's a big reason why my daughter doesn't "love" futsal. The space that they typically play on is pretty compact.

One cool thing that TSC did was an outdoor futsal night over at a park in the Kendall-Whittier district. The outdoor courts have built in goals under the basketball goals. It was fun

Not making those basketball courts regulation size has really cost that facility a lot of missed basketball revenue.
