Another fruit I really enjoy is also grown on my place. We have two trees of avocadoes
There are a must for Mexico food. They are great to eat right off the tree with salt & pepper and lemon or lime juice. My favorite variety is the Hass. It is best to have two trees for cross pollination. They can self pollinate but you have better fruit and more with the cross pollination. At least that has been my experience

I like Guac (but salsa is better), I'm OK with Avocado being on some foods, like burgers and such.. but eating that **** raw? Can't do it. Northerners aren't meant to eat something like that. It's root vegetables for us lol.

Love those, too. But they are kinda small at times.

I'm not a fan of apples that don't have that crisp/crunch to them. Any of the "mealy" type apples are garbage. Red Delicious are like this I believe.

They had a new apple I hadn't heard of this past Fall, and they were fantastic. SnapDragon maybe?

I guess that means you will pass when I offer you some swamp cabbage.

Great restaurants:

Congers: Xavierโ€™s Bully Boy
Nyack: Velo
Nyack: Strawberry Place (for breakfast)

Oooo, I'll have to ask my family if they've been. A lot of my college buddies and friends are in the Westchester area. Ossining, Peekskill, Scarsdale areas.

I dated a few girls from Bergen Co... One was from Upper Saddle River. Richest person I've ever met, she was slated to get like $20 million when her grandmother died. I ****** that up...

Love going down that way. But at the same time, I'm glad to be up in the ADKs away from people.

Oh ****, I didn't even know that. I figured USH was at the top. That area is just insane though. I drive through there a few times a year if I hit up Manhattan. Takes some good driving skills lol.

Trick question! No fruit is any better than any other fruit. There are some you prefer, but that does not make them better.

I win and the best fruit is the one you like best.

Hard to beat a perfectly ripened peach on a summer day. Pineapple is great too, very versatile. Gala is my favorite apple.

But by far the fruit i consume the most of is limes. Gin and tonics, mules, salsa, tacos, ceviche we go through almost a bag a week in the summer.

I thought this was a your favorite fruit thread. I would imagine few people North of Florida even know what they are but if you were raised on them and smelled the aroma coming out of grandma's kitchen when you were a young'un then it could very well be your favorite fruit. There are so many ways to fix them. Eat off the tree, make jelly and paste, make turnovers, serve guava shells with Philadelphia cream cheese. Serve them with milk for breakfast. The list is endless

It is the one jelly we keep around all year round. I have two guava trees and they bear lots of fruit. I have lots of citrus too and the kumquats are also high on my list
Cherries are probably first place on my list, but guava would be in my top 5 for sure. Whenever I go to Publix, I pick up a block of guava paste or a guava preserves. Here's a tip for you, since you appreciate Cuban bread--toast up a piece of Cuban bread or, better yet, get a skillet, put a little bit of butter and Mojo marinade and let it get hot in the skillet, put your Cuban bread slice in there slather it on and cook in the butter/Mojo mixture., press it if you want....get it nice and toasted, then spread guava preserves on it. It's one of the best snacks there is anywhere.

I always have trouble with these favorite threads. I like so many things and there are many variables that determine my preference at a specific time. The fruit I would probably miss the most is the tomato.
I wouldn't want to live in a world without tomatoes. So versatile, so delicious. One of life's finer pleasures is a slice off a big heirloom tomato between two slices of FRESH light bread with mayo, salt & pepper.

Ironically, when I was 13, my mom was taking my girlfriend and I to drop us off at the movies. Mom had fixed lunch for us, which included macaroni & tomatoes. On the car ride to the movies, my girlfriend got sick and upchucked her lunch all over me and the backseat. It was probably 6 or 7 years before I could eat ANY tomato product again. I've more than made up for that 6-7 year span though.

I like almost all fruits, especially if they are fresh. Couldn't pick a favorite. I do remember tasting fresh mangos in the Philippines. Excellent!

I also got to grow up in Kentucky with grandparents who raised every kind of fruit and vegetable that would grow, and so many do. Nothing like fresh strawberries, cherries, apples, pears, grapes, cantaloupe, raspberry's, .etc.

I used to stomp grapes barefoot as a kid in a washtub and my grandmother made wine. Also can't forget crawling through the briars to pick wild blackberries and taking them home for cobbler. Good stuff!

During the holidays, I usually make turtle strawberries and vanilla & pretzel strawberries. They're normally a pretty big hit.

I love all fruit and itโ€™s hard for me to pick a favorite, but I grew up in an environment that was absolutely ideal for fruit, and all I can say is that most of the fruit I buy in Ohio sucks complete ***. Flavorless, hard, not ripe or too ripe. Just terrible. Havenโ€™t had a decent strawberry in a year.

Totally hear that. Buying strawberries is hard because the bad ones are inedible. I worked at a Home2 Suites in Lexington and somehow we always had good strawberries. Never understood it. But damn were they tasty. Half the time I get them at Kroger they are awful
