How the 17 do you have no idea how to break a 1-3-1 zone. Howland even mentioned it in his press conference. What a piss effort

Because we are not coached well. The games we win are based on talent, not coaching. And tonight is proof that talent alone can only do so much.

And we are woefully coached on the offensive side of the ball.

I don't totally agree. You have to have decent ball handlers who can penetrate and dish, or guys who can shoot it from three.

We have neither. Plus we run our entire offense around Perry which is great when he is on, but if he gets rattled, we don't have an answer on a consistent basis.

Our biggest problem is shaking off things off and going back to playing solid defense. Once we get hit in the face, we just play

We are soft mentally, and have not been consistently mentally tough since we lost to New Mexico State.

Hey now, you think it’s easy to beat Ole Miss in basketball? It’s not like they are three games under .500 in league play... oh wait...

Because we don’t have great guard play.
The game of basketball is based on guard play in the last 5 years. You have to have scorers from the 1-2 position. Couple that with Howland putting his bigs that far from the basket and we lost offense movement. We were straight up out coached and out played in the perimeter by better shooters. The game is based on outside in. Just like the NBA. Worst shots are 22 in to about 6 ft.

I get where you are coming from, and there’s no doubt State is more talented. But.. and I know this doesn’t make anyone feel better.. Ole Miss is a significantly better team than their record indicates. And, yes.. I realize that’s something a fan would say. They’ve blown more games than an Ole Miss recruiting hostess would, well... you know

In fairness, I agree with you and expected to lose. I did not expect to lose by 25. That is inexcusable.

Howland screwed up by not getting a true point guard in here, either in recruiting or transfer. Just trying to convert Nick into one has cost us the season.

I said before the season I thought it was a huge mistake not finding a true PG distributor who could shoot well as a grad transfer.

One guy like that would have really helped us in some games where people try to throw zones at us

Our only answer was to heave those looping sideline-to-sideline passes that accomplished absolutely nothing. It looked like mississippi was playing 10 on 5 on defense and one-on-one on offense. It was just one loss but a very embarrassing one.

The "triangle and one" defense has been proven for 40 years for teams who feel over matched in the paint. Inexcusable that this team, armed with Perry and Ado, was completely unprepared for it. I'd run it against State every time since perimeter shooting is sporadic at best. Not surprised, a lot of today's teams don't know what to do with any type of zone.

After Moorhead and now Howland, I'm completely numb to lazy, unprepared, horseshit coaching.

Yep. And the line was MSU -1. Obviously Vegas thinks these two teams are relatively even

Yeah, I get that for sure. It definitely snow balled. Tyree couldn’t miss, and Weatherspoon completely lost his composure. But, luckily for State it’s still only one loss, and it may become a more respectable loss if OM can sustain this mini-run they are on.
