Didn’t Marist get significantly hit with the injury bug this year? I also don’t think Marist would want to move down in divisions. They are up for the challenge.Marist has the football numbers and enrollment for the Blue. But, they didn’t make the playoffs 2 of the last 3 years playing in the third division. Not sure how anyone could justify a 2-level bump based on their recent performance.
I was a master…I knew that Naz had a good debate team.
It's a very handy skill.I was a master…
I tried but couldn’t resist
I tried settling this argument back on page #1 but it didn't work.
Here are the top 5 in Illinois, deal with it.
1) Wilmington
2) Mt Carmel
3) Brother Rice

Fake News???? Why I outta....
Wilmington & Byron are undefeated all-time against MC, Brother Rice, Loyola, ESL and LWE. So there!!!!!
Yes! Yes! My point exactly!Who are three people who have never been in my kitchen?
They are in division 3 currently but believe in the new system they are being forced in 1.Didn’t Marist get significantly hit with the injury bug this year? I also don’t think Marist would want to move down in divisions. They are up for the challenge.
InterestingThey are in division 3 currently but believe in the new system they are being forced in 1.
Where they belong. I’m not saying you’re wrong, I’m sure you are right and I’m wrong but how do you know they’re in the 3rd division? They are in division 3 currently but believe in the new system they are being forced in 1.
I have watched several ESL & MC games this year and have voiced my opinion on both teams
Providing that both teams play their best games
I will take MC in this match up
What is this like New York, New York? A city so nice, you have to say it twice?THIS year
I don’t think that ESL matches up well with MC
I say that with the utmost respect towards ESL and what the coaches do with those kids
He is just trolling. Trying to get the old faithfuls going. Not falling for it though. What is this like New York, New York? A city so nice, you have to say it twice?
Trolling… ESL runs 70% of the timeHe i

all out weird! Not that either team can prove it, it’s just interesting that their announcers swear that they are. Like, if they say it enough, everyone will just get on board with it. ESL never openly makes that claim. Just all out weird….![]()
Tuccs - it’s nice to read this again. Well done, sir.I’ve said this numerous times….ESL played a very strong schedule and LOST to every single tough opponent they played.
Mt Carmel played a tough schedule ALL SEASON and is playing in the highest playoff bracket possible and is not only playing but dominating in it.
In conclusion…LOSING…again…L…O…S…I…N…G to Nationally ranked teams and then playing down two levels of competition doesn’t put you in the same conversation.
ESL is great at what they do and a great team. Hats off to you for being a safe haven for so many D1 athletes facing hardships it’s commendable. However, until the conference lets them play up to the competition they will not be considered #1.
It’s like giving a 20 year old the 3rd grade spelling bee trophy.
Can you re-run these calcs? The formula for determining the best team in the state of Illinois is quite simple.
1) The team must win a state championship in one of the eight classifications.
2) The team is assigned points that correspond to the class level in which it won the championship.
* Games against out-of-state teams are not used in this formula because we are determining the best team in the state.
3) Subtract one point for each loss the team has incurred.
4) For unbeaten teams, divide the closest margin of victory by ten and consider the result to be points earned for use in this formula.
5) Add and subtract points as called for in steps 2, 3 and 4. The team with the most points is the best team in the state.
So, as things presently stand, and assuming both Mt. Carmel and East St. Louis go on to win their respective state championships, here are the calculations.
Mt. Carmel = 8 - 0 + .4 = 8.4 points
East St. Louis = 6 - 0 + 3.9 = 9.9 points
East St. Louis should be considered the best team in the state unless either Nazareth or Fenwick loses to them by less than 24 points in the 6A state championship game.
Revised Calculations:Can you re-run these calcs?
This was an irresponsible post. The MC announcers keep saying MC is #1. When did that happen?
In this game, they had 158 yards passing compared to 155. Shanklin has 17 completions or 27 attempts, but 2 ints. Not bad, Not great.I understand backing your team no matter what
but ESL doesn’t have a mid level passing game against a good defensive play calling coach
you can’t be #1 in the state if you can’t air the ball out
