One point is all that separates us today from being divided on what the future holds for our coaching staff and full fledge (and justified) melt down mode. 1 point against Bowling Green. I think we need some changes on the coaching staff, just not sure how many. I tend to think a new offensive line coach and a new OC are in order. There are certainly issues on defense, too, but those coaches are brand new and probably deserve more than half a season. Our offensive woes are several years old. I tend to believe that State can have success in football, but it will take either excellent recruiting or excellent x and o coaching. Right now, we are not getting either of those. A 1 point victory over BGSU is probably what someone else referred to last night as an immoral victory. Something has to improve. I expect a shake up of some sort on this coaching staff at the completion of this season. It is time.

We'll blow out Kentucky and all will be well. Unless Z Smith goes RAT mode on us, which is always a possibility.

That singular decision gives me more doubt about the current coaching staff than the entire rest of last nights game.

If their guy would have caught that perfect pass that hit him in the hands, they would have almost been in FG range. If they had kicked the FG to win, wonder if everybody would be going ballistic over Mullen's choice not to kick the FG?

I'm not covering for Mullen to not be criticized. Nevertheless, it's a fact that he probably does as good a job selecting assistant staff that he is able to with the salary dollars provided to him and available good coaches. There are many reasons why some coaches may not be interested in living in Starkville for an extended period of time. The HC at Mississippi State has one of the toughest, if not the toughest, jobs in the SEC from the standpoint of schedule that is played, recruiting and keeping a good staff. BGSU is a solid team, regardless of conference affiliation. It is a very experienced team and their coaching staff has been together for a number of years that adds to stability. Should we have beaten them more than one point? Yes we should have. Even if the assistants were paid more and proved to be highly successful, they would not stay, so there may not be a valid reason for paying them more. A six to eight win season on a regular basis is "the next level" for State...deal with it and enjoy the season. Dan ain't going anywhere anytime soon.
Sometimes you have to lay it on the line. Nothing personal by the way..a lot of people are saying the same thing.

I realize what the realistic next level is for MSU. What I can't take is the regression players make when coming to State. All season long I have bitched about fundamentals. What I can't take is poor tackling, defenders who can be baited every play, receivers who do not fight for separation or to keep a play alive. I can take losing because we got beat. What I can't take is week after week of sloppy football.

Again I say the field goal was a ten yard decision. They got the ball on the five, had to get to the 30 for a legitimate FG chance, so 65 yards for a possible win. If we make the field goal, they probably get the ball on the 25, maybe better, so 75 yards. I don't have a problem with the decision.

No way a smart decision

Ugh, you forget that with the fg, we don't lose on a fg.

You did watch the Auburn game, didn't you? 1 pt is the appropriate title for this thread
