You should go check out the spirit. In fact they say it is just like the Orgeron situation. Some of the more idiotic people on the internet come from that website

Oh and they are now saying that since we interviewed 8 people that the other 7 obviously turned us down and he was the 8th choice

And let's be candid, if it was a great hire, you wouldn't have to start a thread about "signs" of it being a good hire. I think y'alls insecurity about this hire isn't based on the fear that it was a bad hire -- it wasn't. Rather, I think y'all are a little disappointed because Rebel fans seem to be non-plussed by the hire. Settle down. The guy gives you a shot, unlike Croom.

NAFOOM seems unanimous that it is a pretty good hire...especially as far as assistants go. Nobody is shaking in their boots but I think everybody thinks is a fine hire.

We are laughing at the Byrne/Ninja stuff however.

Just because one is energetic doesn't mean that they are incompetent. Orgeron just combined the two so well that they can't tell the difference anymore.

Not from us, bud.

From you guys. You are the ones interjecting into the threads various backhanded slaps at Mullen. Comparing him to Orgeron takes the cake. The comparison is so ridiculous, it's not even worth arguing over. Position coach vs. Offensive Coordinator? Really?

Byrne is in this room. Beware.

But you interpret this insecurely as poor-mouthing if anyone says it's a nice hire, even though he doesn't have head coaching experience, or that he's not the greatest thing since sliced bread. He's a good hire.

I'm impressed that you got Mullen he is a great hire for ya'll. I really didn't think that you would be able to get an SEC assistant.

with Greg Byrne as we are. To think, he got a SEC assistant to take the little Ole State job.

Just curious, but do you think Mullen was Byrne's first choice?

I'm pretty sure that we never technically "offered" the job to anyone other than Orgeron when we went through that hiring process, but he sure as hell wasn't the first choice.

For the record, I think Mullen is a quality hire, and he's a definite upgrade from Croom, and in no way am I comparing him to Orgeron (other than the shape of their heads). How good of a hire remains to be seen at this point, but I think it was a quality move.

would have been the same as the views of most Nafoomers. You wanted Petersen, he turned you down so Byrne went to plan B between the OU OC and the UF OC. In fact, i would guess that most of you would have rather had the OU OC than Mullen. He is a very good hire, but he won't be performing any miracles. You want a dynamic offense but look what you have coming back: a poor oline, decent rb's who may or may not fit in the new system, wr's who haven't done anything, and no one at qb. Mullen will be no more sucessful than RichRod or Petrino in his first year.

But I feel it's safe to say he was in our top 3-5, including PetersEn. Regardless, it's a hell of a hire. Now go find a Mississippi board, talk about how you wish harm on Mullen, and leave us the hell alone.

Not that it matters, but Southern fans are saying that we were dumb to hire a cordinator that has not experience. Kindof funny because they also hired an OC. I guess they forgot about that.

They are also saying that the only reason he is successful is because of Tebow and that we had to "settle" with Mullen. Give me a break these guys are clouded by all that dope smoke in Hattiesburg.

I like dope though......

And they were saying we were "scared" of him. Too late, Rebel-fan realized we really WERE mocking them and him for being idiots.

They have a good coach and a good team. I seriously doubt they're "afraid" of him. I DO believe they think we have a better AD in "Ninja" Byrne than they do in Pete "LT without the imagination and charisma" Boones.

I feel a lot better now. I don't think anyone is expecting miracles like the one that happened at Ole Miss this year, just win the games you are suppose to, and improve the team as we go along.
