2006 was the last time we were ranked #1 this early and we didn’t even make it to Hoover so may be it’s good we aren’t going to be ranked #1

#1 this early in the season is always a curse. Really for any team. I'm good with hanging around the top 5 for the entire season, if we are fortunate enough to stay at this pace through the season.

Coming into Omaha with the #1 seed also seems to be a curse for the mentality of college baseball players. I like the 3-5 seed the most.

Yeah, I didn’t want a #1-target on our back going into SEC play. Not terrible to lose that one, but I am glad we scared their mule. We are now dangerous.

Yesterday was disappointing, but long term it could even turn out to be a blessing in disguise. The guys have gone toe to toe with the #1 team in the country. They know they can play with anyone in the country, but they also have a bad tase in their mouth from yesterday.

I've gotten over it. We are clearly an elite team as is UCLA. It was very obvious who the best two teams in Arlington were and that was a pretty good field. We did enough things to win that game, but we could have played better and made it a certainty, so plenty to learn.

I did find the hbp thing interesting. Their guys are clearly coached to stand still and take hbp's if possible. Our guys clearly are not. Be interesting to hear Oak's philosophy on that.
