10 team conference schedules from here on?

We see the major conferences going to a 10 game schedule under the Covid times.

Rece Davis has recently been pushing for this model to become permanent. Some people think that this will become the norm as the "power" schools separate more from everyone else because the tv networks may also want this.

Problem here for the conference WVU is in--there are only 10 teams.

As we know they had an opportunity to correct this several years back--but did not do so.

Now we see that there were and are many reasons that would indeed have been a good idea. The Big 12 can't be playing an FCS and 9 games while everyone else plays 10 conference games and then expect any place at the table.

They surely must see what's going on--will be interesting to see how the conference is going to react. If they don't then the conference is going to face a very difficult time ahead.

As far as Rece Davis influence in college football? He's just behind Kirk Herbstreit in influence, being in the booth on the top college football games and playoff and national championships.

He is very influential in the ranking and promotion of teams and conferences as opposed to say, some anonymous hate filled bum on a message board.

Neither have influence over any college team. They write articles to get people to read. The more the hits the better it looks. It's a desire to nobody except Rece Davis.

Seeing Davis' ideas, its important to note who is employer is--the people that control all major college football. They have influence with all the major conferences as they pay most of the bills. He is speaking on their platforms as an expert in the field on behalf of them--not just as some random, detached person as some might imply.

Doesn't mean things will absolutely go this way, but if conferences do play under the predetermined 10 team schedules, this idea will likely gain steam as the bigger conferences suddenly have more in conference matchups.

In the ACC this season they are also going with--A--adding Notre Dame and B--not having divisions. No divisions will allow teams in bigger conferences to meet more frequently. 10 conference games with no divisions will allow even more teams to meet more frequently.

As the smallest conference, all this is putting the BIG 12 at further disadvantage and further illustrates the mistake in only having 10 teams. No major conference network possible, general perception of "weakness" even though ALL teams play one another as opposed to every other conference---and now, if other conferences start playing 10 conference games--you cannot do that.

The conference will have to seriously consider all this as they move closer to their next set of contracts.

We already knew he was more influential than you, there was no need to tell us.

Another reason the BIG 12 will have to be cognizant and proactive going forward on the conference size front-- if the other four conferences do decide on 10 game conference schedules, and maybe one major OOC opponent, the number of potential major OOC games that a smaller BIG 12 can arrange goes down dramatically.

Whereas everyone else in these other conferences will have a 10 team power 5 schedule in conference, and one major opponent for an 11 th power game, the BIG 12 may find it difficult to line up 10 power conference games. Thats going to hurt tv revenue and schedule strength.

And if a scheduling format like this happens, it may happen quickly-- could even continue on from right now.

Big 12 is not going to add Omashu U and Teddy Bear U. just so they can play 10 conference games. This season is out of necessity. Notre Dame will not stick to 10 ACC teams. Although they would be smart to join a conference full time their big heads will not allow it.

WVU already plays 2 OOC games against P5 schools. Other conferences going 10 conference games will just mean they will play 1 less candy *** team in OOC.

We all know you hate the Big 12 and would prefer WVU join the MAC.
