I turned football off in the third quarter and went to DNF to watch the scrimmage. Good decision.

I'm still impressed with Daniel Garner. He really seems to be a leader behind the plate. I'll be surprised if he's not our starting catcher.

Robson played center, and I was really unimpressed with his arm. He caught a shallow pop fly on the run (running straight toward home plate). The runner on 3rd tagged up, and I figured for sure he would be shot. Robson's throw rolled the last 10 feet to home plate, and was about five feet behind the runner.

I didn't get there until after they took Woodruff out, so I didn't see him. Sexton looked pretty good, much better than he did at an earlier scrimmage.

The players all seemed to be having a good time. At one point, a line drive hit about a foot foul in left field, but
the umpire called it fair. There was some good natured arguing amongst the players before one of the coaches (Mingione?) yelled "Just play baseball!".

During the scrimmages, there is just one umpire, who is behind the plate. So some player who isn't in the game will often come out to be a field umpire. Last Thursday, it was Will Cox. Today it was Holder. He made a close call at first, and they started really giving him grief about it. It was all in good fun, and kind of funny to watch.

I did confirm that the team is now using Adidas bats.

I think the team scrimmages again tomorrow at noon. If you're in Starkville, and the weather is good, do yourself a favor, and go to a scrimmage. They are usually pretty entertaining.

I saw another old guy at the gym this afternoon wearing an MSU baseball Tee-shirt.
I just said, "At least we have another sport to look forward to this year!"
