I went last night and just don't see how we've gotten 3,000 more in there. I would have bet we had 13,000 last night.

No way the crowd tonight is that close to last night's number. Something is up.

I think it was more than that tonight. They didn't even scan our tickets; just tore 'em in half.

11k my ***.

This really, really needs to be audited. By my count, that's $30-40k worth of tickets that have "gone missing". I'm pissed about these ******** numbers, and someone needs to answer the real questions.

I watched on ESPN3 and the place looked packed. Maybe for some reason they're wanting to show progressively larger numbers for tonight's game, and tomorrow's if there is one.

Starkville merchants and hotels must love post season play.

Is it possible that the ticket office is under counting and screwing the NCAA on the gate? I have no complaints if that is the case.

I was at the 07 Super, the Auburn game, and both games this weekend, and without a doubt, 07 was the most packed out of all those games. The bleachers were deceptively packed... We were in right field and we were pretty spread out with holes around us. Can't say the same for left field... Also, there were a surprising amount of empty seats in the grandstand... about on part for the Auburn game and far less than 07.

07, you couldn't move in the bleachers and the outfield was comparable to what was there last night... I imagine what you are seeing is actual paid attendance being reported since it is an NCAA regional.

However, the shocking thing is seeing all those people lined up before the game outside the stadium... there's no way there weren't at least 14-15,000 in line around the stadium.

That was how it was explained to me. Since its an NCAA event they get a cut of the gate numbers. Understating those numbers would save us some $.

I have a hard time believing that though, because Stricklin doesn't seem to be the type to try to pull a fast one on the NCAA.

Classic engie post. He took some off the wall anger, added some bluster, and then a little conspiracy theory about ticket money "gone missing." I hope he gets his answers!

Closest I've seen to 07 Super was Auburn this year. I went Fri and it wasn't even close to the Auburn or 2007. I think the attendance figures are accurate.

If this is true is it really a smart move on our part? Saying "17 the NCAA" doesn't exactly bode well for small schools like ours. I'd think we'd want to stay in good graces and give them any money we can(or at least how much they are entitled to get for giving us a regional), and announce the largest figures for attendance we could to show we can support national-level college sporting events. Not to mention it will go a long way for determining future venues for other athletic events if we can ever get a proper flag (please don't turn the thread into a tangent).

...... I think the attendance figures are accurate.

I do too. I can't speak for the grandstands or bleachers but the centerfield area was absolutely packed during the Saturday game against Auburn this year. It was nowhere close to that Friday night or Saturday night.

I think it is a smart move by the school. It's probably not smart for people to complain about it on a message board. If it meant giving up thousands of $ just for us to be able to say "6th largest crowd...", then why post an accurate count?

If I had to guessing would imagine they were saving an accurate count for tonight's game to make the fans happy.
