you get 11:21am kickoffs....
Anyone want to guess how many times we get stuck in this slot..
at least if we do, at least a ton more people will have the chance to see us play.

From this article, a good read about the Tv schedule and past practices.
Raycom Sports previously aired the 11:30 a.m. syndicated game in the SEC's nine-state, geographic footprint. ESPN, which now has that game, has secured or is trying to land affiliates in some major cities - Chicago, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Dallas, Houston and Columbus, Ohio, to name a few. That's Big Ten and Big 12 country.</p>

The early game will kick off at 11:21 a.m. to provide more breathing room before CBS' window of exclusivity from 2:30 to 6 p.m. Because the early time hinders the number of fans in attendance, SEC schools used to receive $20,000 for playing two home games on Raycom and $40,000 for three home games or more.
</p>

That no longer exists within the SEC, which will share TV revenue more evenly among its members. The early game could become more attractive because it's projected to reach between 50 million and 70 million homes, including new regions of the country.</p>

like CSS. I fully expect about half of our games to be on CSS since I don't get that channel. I did see they were still in negotiations with FOXSS for more regional games. Maybe that's a glimmer of hope. How forward thinking too. A regional network that is actually carried by ALL the major tv programming providers. That's just pure 17ing genius.

I don't think she has personally witnessed an interesting game in her entire time at ESPN.

And, with the CBS game still at 2:30, I think this is a major improvement over the 11:40 start time we've had for the past decade or so. Now I'll actually be able to watch the 1st quarter of the biggest game of the week.

No three Daves. No missed plays while the cameraman takes a nap, and no fuzzy picture.

I still think that the real reason LF/JP/Raycom bit the dust is because of the digital switchover. They just weren't equipped to broadcast digitally.

I think you're way overestimating the quality of the ESPN Ocho announcers we'll have for a lot of our games. I doubt they'll be any real improvement over the three Daves. And in some cases, they may even be worse.

but at least they did realize that MSU and UM were separate institutions. Prepare for the MSU rebels.

Some of our games will be called by announcers who don't know jack **** about SEC football.</p>

This is the reason I'm for ESPN contracting with the Daves to do the SEC games. I know everyone hates on them but it could be worse, as you've said.

When the deal was first announced, I just assumed the Daves would probably just move from Raycom to ESPN and keep doing what they've always done.</p>

but, I really enjoyed the three Daves. I looked forward to the senseless ramblings and screwups on nearly every series. It was unintentional comedy. They seemed like likable guys that genuinely enjoyed SEC football. When you turned on an 11:30 JP game, you weren't going to get anything but 100% SEC football. No comments on how great OSU, USC, etc. etc. was playing. Just straight up saturday morning SEC football and Nexium purple pill first down line plugs. My only complaint not joining the HD movement in time. But, that wasn't the triple D's fault. With ESPN, we'll get a great picture, but I am expecting miserable regional announcing. We'll probably get that terrible woman who does the morning ESPN2 or ESPNU games. The commentary will be dry and uneventful.

Plus, didn't one of the original "three daves" get fired (or left) only to be replaced by another guy named Dave? Pure genious. I'm sure the first item listed in the job requirements for that job was "name must be Dave".

Her name is Pam "The Man" Ward, and they need to stick to her doing softball games. That's fine because a lot of the viewing audience can identify with her for those games.

And yes, she'll probably be doing the early games for us. She always did one of the 11 AM Big 10 games.

Also, you are right on the three Daves. Dave Archer was the new Dave replacing one of the other Daves. I can't remember the Dave he replaced though. It is pure comedy that they had three Daves, got rid of one, and replaced him with another Dave. What are the odds? I mean, you'd think that at least one of them would prefer to be called David.

It was Dave Rowe that got replaced and he was by far the worst one, and he is also the one that made it unintentionally comedic. Dave Baker (sideline guy) is actually really good.
I'm actually going to miss them, it's tradition to have them in my ear on Sat mornings. Lots of great JP/Raycom memories.</p>

Like you, I did not mind the screw ups at all because they were 100% SEC. They knew the teams, players, coaches, locations, and history. I appreciated that. It is done though. I can not wait to get the updates on USC, Notre Dame, and etc. during the telecast. Also, on what a great guy Croom was and the posted speed limit on campus of 18 mph.</p>
