The RBC this week and the Memorial last week were great previews for Pebble. Shorter courses that can be scored on if you stay out of trouble. This week also has poa annua greens so if someone is struggling putting pay attention. I do not think Koepka continues his dominance. He has not been lights out at Pebble and it honestly is not a bomb and gouge course and he has never played that well in the wind.

I thought this was Tiger's best shot coming into the year and he was rounding into form over the weekend at The Memorial. DJ has a great history at Pebble as does Phil. The coolest thing about Pebble though is that a guy like Graeme McDowell who is fantastic from 150 in but only hits a driver about 260 or so can play toe to toe with DJ.

This should be a great tourney:

My pick is Tiger

Mid odds players I like are:

Adam Scott
Matsuyama

Long shots I like:

McDowell
Scott Piercy
Van Rooyen

^You want Brooks to win again? Nah. He good. Tiger needs to win to get closer to Jack’s record.

Phil is hitting it everywhere this year. I will be shocked if he contends. This course doesn't guys like Koepka, McIlroy, Day, etc. I think Spieth is rounding into form and his game fits the course well.

Woods
Spieth
Na
Kuchar

Are my 4 picks.

I think McIlroy is playing to well this year not to win one so I'll take him.

We went out to Carmel last August and walked on the beach down to where the course was above you and you could see the peninsula that 7 and 8 are on and further off the peninsula where 17 and 18 are on and that place is just spectacular. The next day we had lunch at the clubhouse and watched 7 or 8 groups come in off 18. It was just an amazing scene and every video just reminds me how cool that place was. I can't wait to go out and play it someday. I'm also really pumped for this US Open.

Piercy is going to be a really long shot. I did not see where he made the field.

Why? Brooks is the man now.
Brooks is all over the place at the Canadian Open this week. He does not look sharp at all with his driver. The week before Bethoage he played in Texas and looked great.
Piercy is going to be a really long shot. I did not see where he made the field.
I think he had to do really well this week to get into the top 60 of Official World Golf Ranking. He did not get in through qualifying so he will not be in the field since he is probably missing the cut in Canada. I was hoping he would qualify.

Count Brooks out at your own risk.

His mindset is just different at the majors.

Day has played well at Pebble, 4th, 2nd and 5th last 3 years. Though course will be tricked out, so...
Spieth is not hitting fairways, may hurt him.

Good call on Day - he's my favorite golfer but something seems off with him right now. He has a tendency to show up at majors though.

I think the multiple injuries have caught up to Day a bit. I hope it is not my other suspicion. He has had a few demons in the past. Hope the injuries did not cause him to go back.

That's one of the things I like most about him - he's not your classic spoiled country club douchebag that permeates the tour. I think he would have several more wins and at least one more major if not for the injuries. Day's best is as good as anyone's.

Agree 100%. It is also why I like him as well. Very very likable guy. When he is on (which you can say that about most tour pros), he is a must watch. Has every shot in the bag.

I really like Day. His short game is amazing and the greens at Pebble Beach are tiny. The winner is going to have to hit some nervy chips out of some gross lies and he is able to do that. Spieth has a fantastic short game too and he has a fantastic wind game so don't underestimate him. Also he is putting at a historically high level the last 3 tournaments he has played. His strokes gained putting at the PGA was the highest on tour at any event by a player in 18 months and he got a top 5 there despite being possibly the worst course fit of any top player at Bethpage.

Day is gonna have Stevie Williams on the bag at Pebble. Have Stevie and Tiger buried the hatchet? I know Day and Woods are buddies.

This was them after they split and played together with Williams on Scott’s bag. But I think a book by Williams came out since then.

Rory is driving the hell out of the ball this weekend - he has under 100 on seemingly every par 4. I don't think he can do that to Pebble.
His driving is second to none. His putting is usually below average, but his irons are just crazy solid this week.

He’s probably the most talented player on the world.

When he’s making putts, he’s hard to beat.

Agreed. There are several guys who are really good when they are “on,” but Rory when he gets going is something to behold. He’s simply not beatable today.

LOL, Just posted the same thing on the golf thread. When he gets it going, he can win by huge margins, he has done it a number of times, including the US Open and PGA

Being Canadian, that's my dream golf forecast. I wish it was like that all summer here.
You can live on the Monterrey Peninsula for $2 million or so and enjoy that exact weather 300 or so days a year. Of course the golf is about $300+ a round so not sure how much you would get to play.

If you can afford the $2-4 million dollar house, I am guessing you can join a pretty nice club as well. When I was in Carmel, several of the locals told me that Seventeen Mile Drive and the houses on the beaches are often times second homes. I mean GD, who has that kind of jack? How many people can there be with $100M laying around?
