Auburn wins a close one 25-20. The biggest upset in 1A tonight (unless there was another one out West). Was this considered a big upset out there? Big win for the program it would seem.

I actually picked Auburn to win. Had heard that Ward for FC was suspended for being ejected last week. You may remember he was the tough rb they had last year in the game against Essex.

Also seed wise out West #10 Covington defeated Northwood 32-6 but not sure that's considered an upset other than the lower seed won

Covington took the W tonight as well. Auburn was the biggest winner of an upset tonight though.

not really an upset. auburn was clearly the better team tonite. dominated at the line of scrimmage. FC only had 2 first downs at the half and one came on auburns prevent defense near the end of the half. FC got some things done with the passing game in the 4th. Auburn muffed the opening kickoff and gave FC an easy td for their first score.

Hale needs to find a new occupation cause this one aint working for Fort Chiswell or the Fans of FC I thought it was a horrible hire and it was I question how much friendship played in to it from 2 people in the hiring process. I said I would give him this year but now that its over its time to look at the big picture. Is this the direction that the powers that be want this program to go cause we are heading for the late 90s and 2000s in a hurry look at the fans that was there tonight we took 5 times that many to Essex last year and don't blame the weather I was at the Radford game in 09 lot colder more wind standing room only

Not having Ward hurt but not as bad as not having Turner on Defense. Auburn scored by throwing the ball more than running. It hurts when you lose a senior CB that will come up and make tackles. Auburn really had a better game plan against us than we had for them. Good luck to Auburn next week at GW.

None of the "upsets" out west surprised me with the exception of PH beating Clintwood.. I had the Auburn game circled as an upset, and I already knew for a fact that Covington would roll Northwood.

Senior CB for FC. Everyone here at FC knows him. Good luck to Auburn next week. A well coached team.

The flipside of all the 1A upsets....

The road to Salem just got a lot easier for the top 4 seeds. I see no upsets at all in round 2. Radford has the best shot at pullling off an upset, but I still expect Honaker to win.

I guess Coach Turner can coach a little, two TD passes and maybe another one or dropped. Great game plan by Auburn, Fort has some great looking kids. What is the scouting report on GW?

Not sure who said he couldn't coach. Yes Auburn did drop some balls that should've been caught. I heard that the RB may have broken his leg. They have a very good run defense and the passing D has come a long way. I think if losing their star TB doesn't mess with them mentally, GW will win this game easily and may be hosting Radford the week after.

Not an upset if one team loses their best player especially in high school and especially in single A - look at what happened to Hidden Valley.

Turner has done a fantastic job in the weight room and in building the character of those kids down there in Auburn. He surprised me by throwing the ball as much as he did last night. I've always been a fan of his work ethic and his ability to coach up the offensive line but always thought someone else should run the offense/call the plays (I don't know if that happened last night but either way great job Coach Turner & congrats to the Eagles on their win.

I remember at the beginning of the season everyone was posting Fort would be lucky to win 3 or 4 games. I thought they had a solid season despite a ton of internal issues and not having their best player last night. The rest of those kids fought to the end - I wouldn't be so quick to bash the coach just yet.

We had 2 key players out #6 and #15. #6 Turner not being on defense hurt us a lot. Auburn attacked our weak spot on D with pass and it paid off.

FORT89 is correct if fc had #6 the game would have been a bit diff and if both played it would have been a easy win for fc. And losing Trey skeens hurts us a lot but we are not.a 1 team back we have plenty that are just as good. Im kinda mad at auburn won cause I.wanted tosee fc in the second rd. All i can say to auburn is you better show up or it will be a long night.

Not surprising at all that there would be excuses made for FC but the bottom line is they were beat by a better TEAM on Friday night and If anyone that was at that game can honestly say that Auburn did not out coach and out play FC on BOTH sides of the ball then you do not understand or know the game of football. They physically beat and outplayed FC PERIOD on that given night and truth be told the game should not have been as close as it was but the fumble on the opening kickoff, several dropped passes that easily would have been TD's and those ridiculous missed tackles late in the game made it more dramatic than it really was. We will NEVER know what would or would not happen had those individuals played for FC so next man up and play the game and that is what happened and the outcome is what it is. And here we go again another game/week of Auburn not having a snowballs chance in h*** to win and listening to some they apparently should not even show up at GW on Friday just like last week at FC. I feel sure Auburn will show up on Friday night ready to play and would submit that if GW overlooks Auburn what so ever they will be in for a long night and a big surprise just like FC.

Auburn got lucky that FC had 2 of their best players out. Plain and simple. BTW your best player is leaving next year. He will playing football at Pulaski or Fort Chiswell next season. You heard it here first. GW will beat Auburn as bad as Radford and Giles did.

the difference is Auburn

has a couple boys that will probably play some college ball. I guess Fort doesn't have any. that's the difference around here between good high school teams and not so good. Right?

You are correct George Wythe has better players and a whole lot more tradition than Auburn, but so did the Fort. GW is a final 4 caliber team as is Radford and Galax. I am sure Coach Turner and Auburn are just happy to be playing.

Does your mommy and daddy

know that you're middle school butt is on the computer again? It's obvious you have an axe to grind. I'm sure the powers that be will consult you before they hire anyone else in Wythe county.

Fort89 if FC is that good why didn't they beat Auburn without Ward? Give Auburn credit. And how do you know Auburns best player is gonna leave? He'd be better off at Auburn than FC

We don't have anyone that plays college ball. Wait does UVA and Tennessee count.

What ever makes the pain more tolerable of losing for you. You started with the excuse early last week about those player and even with their 2 "best" players unable to play still not many INCLUDING YOU gave Auburn a chance to win the game well SURPRISE SURPRISE. At any rate that game is history and Auburn is moving on and you and FC are sitting at home licking your wounds and talking about what should have and could have been. As far as Saturday goes we shall see what happens but I think Auburn is just glad the game(s) are decided on the field and not on the computer. GO EAGLES....

ARE YOU FOR REAL?? If you think for one second that Coach Turner and Auburn are simply "just happy to be playing" you obviously do not know Coach Turner very well which is funny because you always seem to express on here your so called "inside" knowledge of what he is doing or going to do and the program in general. They will prepare hard for this game with out question just as they did the FC game with the BELIEF & EXPECTATION of winning not just showing up and just "happy to be playing" as you say.

Hats off to Auburn, Ill be the first to tell you I didn't think they had a snowballs chance. With that said I do believe in Jack Turner and know the day is coming that Auburn will beat the cats, as they never have at this point. I just think they are a season or two away from really shocking some folks. What's really impressive, is the amount of players coming out for football in Riner. Auburn is turning the corner, however I believe GW will win this one in a close one.
