Yes, he's wrong. Given a choice between Pyles' opinion and Cael, I'll ride with Cael.Is he wrong?
Who is sitting next year?
Where is Desmond a lock to wrestle?

Perhaps the idea behind the wrestle off is not based on Davis performances, but on Desmonds performances? As has been said burning a year of Desmond's eligibility just doesn't make sense at this point. Davis is a solid round of 12 guy. We don't need his points. He obviously needed time to get his sea legs and still has 3 additional weeks. It's not like he lost to stiffs.
Seriously?? Cael has already said that Desmond will not be burning his redshirt. I was just trying to explain the logic as to why.You afraid davis will lose a wrestle off?
Flattery will get you everywhere!@El_Jefe I always appreciate you bringing specificity and facts to discussions on this forum. I sometimes visit the Intermat forum and the volume of threads there with nonsensical takes unsupported by any data or facts boggles my mind.
Sure it does and I can explain it in 3 words:As has been said burning a year of Desmond's eligibility just doesn't make sense at this point. Davis is a solid round of 12 guy. We don't need his points. He obviously needed time to get his sea legs and still has 3 additional weeks. It's not like he lost to stiffs.
He indeed has a point.Pyles claims that if he is Desmond, he wants a wrestle off. His reasoning is that if you have a chance to go with this roster, you take it, redshirt or not: This lineup is extremely difficult to crack. He has a point there.
Pyles is wrong. To make the assumption Pyles has a point is to also make the assumption Pyles' knowledge of the Davis v Desmond situation is comparable to Cael's. It is assuming Pyles has first hand knowledge of room competitions, whether there has been a wrestle off or two and that Pyles has an equivalent of Cael's data interpretation. Is he wrong?

How many times does Cael have to say Desmond is redshirting this year? The same applies to Desmond, therefore go with whoever wins a wrestle off.
How are you related to Nate?Perhaps the idea behind the wrestle off is not based on Davis performances, but on Desmonds performances?
Meant for rig.How many times does Cael have to say Desmond is redshirting this year?
How are you related to Nate?
Desmond is getting a lot of hype at 141, from some, based off a single OT victory against a guy who isn't even top-30 by some of the rankings. Hopefully Braeden gets matched with Ragusin in a few weeks. When he bonuses him, maybe this will be put to rest. How many times does Cael have to say Desmond is redshirting this year?

Davis just needs to get his confidence/swagger back. Let’s give him some confidence and he will be fine. Young man has been a Champion all his wrestling life including being a 4 time State Champ from Michigan. He’s going to surprise at the Big Ten Tournament in the BJC.As has been said burning a year of Desmond's eligibility just doesn't make sense at this point. Davis is a solid round of 12 guy. We don't need his points. He obviously needed time to get his sea legs and still has 3 additional weeks. It's not like he lost to stiffs.
Remember Ono probably only has 2 seasons. He’ll most likely be 133. I’m assuming Marcus grows into 141 next year. I’m just excited about the Big Ten Tournament and Nationals right now. The intensity in the arenas are going to be Insane. Absolute Great time watching them live.It doesn't benefit Desmond to burn his shirt. Unfortunately high probability he may portal, why waste a year.
In the Intermat rankings there are 9 BIG wrestlers in the top 26,Question for the experts on here.
How many auto-qualifier spots do you predict the Big Ten will have at 141?
As I see it, not many. There are only 5 ranked wrestlers (top-25) with 15 matches. Am I missing something?
The same applies to Desmond, therefore go with whoever wins a wrestle off.
If only Dave Evans had stayed and been willing to suck down to 141 one last time we might not be having this debate. Not saying a single negative word about any of our great young men and competitive guys. Not making any case for a wrestle off. Not claiming we need a wrestle off. Not claiming Cael thinks we need a wrestle off. And not saying there will be a wrestle off
But who ya got if they go on Monday night at practice?
I say Davis over Nate in overtime sv1. What you think?
Desmond is pretty good but he won't beat any of those guys!Yes, he's wrong. Given a choice between Pyles' opinion and Cael, I'll ride with Cael.
He also likes to just talk….a lot.Pyles claims that if he is Desmond, he wants a wrestle off. His reasoning is that if you have a chance to go with this roster, you take it, redshirt or not: This lineup is extremely difficult to crack. He has a point there.
And pass gasHe also likes to just talk….a lot.
Nothing against Cochran, but I would be a little disappointed if Cole lost his spot now after showing steady improvement all season and coming off a big win over Feldman.Rumor has it that;
Cael is going to hold a best of 3 wrestle off, 2 days before Princeton,
Desmond v Scooter
Cole v Cochran
The winners start against Princeton.
The match will be open to the public, Cael's cookies will be sold at the event.
Just in case there was a single ounce of seriousness in your responseNothing against Cochran, but I would be a little disappointed if Cole lost his spot now after showing steady improvement all season and coming off a big win over Feldman.
Yeah I don't buy there's a wrestle off at this point we are not iowa. I think Iowa's biggest issue is nobody knows who is wrestling when except for a few weights. That does nothing to help the team concept. I'm not sure when wrestle offs take place or how late in the year they go. I know cassar and shak went pretty late one year but the guy who cael thought would help the team points wise got the spotNothing against Cochran, but I would be a little disappointed if Cole lost his spot now after showing steady improvement all season and coming off a big win over Feldman.
Kueter said he was 100% back to full strength back in September. That’s all I have to go by. Brands (wisely) sat him for National Duals but besides that, I believe he has only missed one dual (Utah Valley on 12/12). In my opinion his “injury” is largely between his ears. He’s a good HWT who managed to beat both Amos and Hopke this season. He’s just not living up to the hype that came with his high school accolades. In fairness, going back to last season, Cole might be the only guy he lost to who he was supposed to beat. As we’ve seen, Cole continues to improve.A bunch of the criticism on Davis here sounds like a lot of the criticism on Ben on the Hawk board..
Davis will be close in getting into wrestling shape by nationals, he's just getting back into it, if he solves that he'll be fine..
Ben is coming off an injury and I don't think he's got enough time to get back into the swing of things this year..
Just a lot of dumb comments on these dudes.
Why burn a redshirt for a weight class you have no chance in winning at nationals?
Besides this might be the last season we see Davis wrestling. With the talent in the room for that spot I don't see him in the lineup as a starter.
As of last night's dual Mitchell's Dominance rating is 5.28 while Mendez has a rating of 4.83. Mitchell has 7 Falls, 7 Technical Falls and 3 Majors, whereas mendez's numbers are 4,9 and 3 respectively. It should also be noted that there are only four wrestlers who still have a 100% Bonus rate; Mesenbrink, Barr, Seidel and Jax. This is from Cornell Kevin over on the Intermat forum:
I agree. Maybe he has been watching too many sports talking heads. So now he seems to have gone to an imitation drone on mode, all crazy-eyed with alternating repeated statements of the obvious and odd hot takes.Seyko keeps getting crazier every show!
I can’t listen to him anymore!Seyko keeps getting crazier every show!
