Blaze has a frame like Taylor had , just a little smaller.
You will not see Blaze at 133 next year . That's from a pretty reliable source.
Yeah, he’s way too big for 57kg, so as someone else said upthread, he’s got to be thinking 65kg in 2028, which means he has to move up from 133.

That will be fun for everybody. Start of the match behind 12-0 or worse. Then follow up with SVN, Kasak and Mitchell.

Curious question...what would be the point of Marcus redshirting next year? Is it lineup construction? As your "don't tell Marcus" comment accurately implies, there is no benefit to him as he clearly doesn't need a year to develop further skills. Could it be to gain weight to go 141 the following season?

Cael has said he mostly leaves these decisions up to the wrestlers, and if that's the case and Marcus wants to wrestle 133 next season, then my guess is Marcus will be wrestling 133 next season.
Same reason kasak redshirted this year

It makes too much sense to redshirt PJ next season and plug Henckel in at 174. PJ will be like Zain in his last three years after taking a year off to develop.
That plus Duke's 2028 Olympic freestyle weight will be 74 kg/163 lb. It makes little sense for him to choose to move up to 174. If he naturally grows there, so be it, but that doesn't seem likely.

I wonder if the 157 is difficult now for PJ. I thought he was a bit winded last night.

The real point is for 133 and 141 we have 3 super studs (Blaze, Ono, Desmond). Nagao is retired and Davis isn't on their level IMO.

Would Desmond wait another year if he is the odd man out? Maybe, maybe not. I don't think he beats either Marcus or Ono, despite the uncertainty.

Of the three mentioned above, only 1 has a redshirt. Just sayin.

With the team DT is building 2 years out, having Marcus around for an extra year ain't so bad either.

The issue isn’t what’s best for the team (with the constant stream of hammers coming in, it’s not going to be that bad anyway), it’s what Blaze thinks is best for him. The Olympics has to be his goal. If he wants to take an ORS to concentrate on freestyle in 28, then would he want to redshirt two years in a row? Probably not.

I still think Braeden is very talented. However, his gas tank issues have become very concerning. Not for the team, as we could score zero at 141 and still win in a rout this season, but for him and his aspirations.
That’s fair. I’m just of a different mindset than many here. As long as a Lion competes hard and never looks like a McGowan or some of this year’s Iowa kids, I’m not making “he gassed” or “tough cut” or “so-and-so is better” excuses. I’m saying that in a violent sport of contact and constriction, where the other guy is tough enough to wrestle D1, my guy lost this time. But he sure as hell didn’t quit. ;)
As for next year 141, my worthless take is that it will be Marcus.

Except if you wanna break the pts record again… unless Henckel can score close to the same pts as PJ at 174.

The only point of redshirting Blaze is because it’s the only logical way Nate Desmond gets into the lineup next year, instead he decides to leave not wanting to waste a year of eligibility out of the starting lineup again.

But I think it would be silly for Blaze to redshirt to keep Desmond, considering how crazy strong the lineup next year with Blaze and Ono back to back will be…but that’s just my personal opinion.

Maybe Desmond is ok with it like Sealey apparently is.

Could pj go 174 like Levi did ,
Luke 125
Ono 133
Blaze 141
Van Ness 149
Kasak 157
Mitchell 165
Duke 174
Rocco 184
Barr 197
Mirasola hwt.
This lineup is asking two AA caliber wrestlers in Nate Desmond and William Henkel to punt a year of eligibility outside the starting lineup. If your culture is that good à la Sealey to have that happen, ESPECIALLY in today’s NIL landscape, then just add one more reason to how ridiculously far ahead of everyone else you guys are.

Another reason would be for him to add strength for 141 or higher. Cael has done both -- shirted and not shirted guys who moved up.

Desmond would afford Blaze that opportunity, but not be the driver.
