Gonna be a great Natl championship game

Game, set, match....OSU aint coming back from that.

Auburn vs FSU. DAMMIT.

As far as boo hooing over AU being lucky, they won the damn games they needed to and just beat two of the best in the country back to back. They deserve it as much as anyone else.

i agree. i just wonder what it cost them. im guessing their first born. Its a little bitter sweet because the sec has a chance to extend its reign of dominance, but i cant stand auburn, although i fully admit they deserve a shot now that osu **** the bed.

I think this season shows that the wins under Chizic where directly related to his OC. In all honesty he may have been the driving force in the program during that time. One season without Malzhon, and Chizic won about the same amount as he did at Iowa State.

I don't get off on some other SEC team winning it like some of you do. It's like being happy a guy from your high school class is nailing a supermodel and you're spanking it every night.

I want Mississippi State - my team - to win it all. And it ain't ever going to happen unless something big changes.

I was rooting my *** off for them in the SECCG

And rooting for OSU to lose tonight, just so I can root for FSU to beat the 17ing **** out of them in the BCS championship game. 17 the SEC's streak. I want them to be the ones to 17 it up, so more people will hate them like I do. 17 Auburn.

Well someone has to win it all. If we don't root for the SEC what happens? Nobody wins? I rather any SEC team, other than Ole Miss, win it than Ohio State/FSU/Oregon/Ect. Southern Pride

Amen brother. Auburn going 3-9 is much better for MSU than them playing for national championships.

How does more money for the SEC help us?

I guess I just disagree with this mindset. Sure we get money, but so does everyone else we are competing with. Still leaves us at the bottom. Seems like we'd benefit a lot more if the other teams in our conference division aren't winning national championships every damn year.

So if aubby didn't make it to the natty and instead playing in the orange bowl or sugar bowl is gonna help us in recruiting? Yeah ok. We should say to recruits to look at our game against them, we aren't that far off. As long as we take care of us everything will be fine. I hope the sec wins it every damn year. Maybe that will be us next year

I guess it would be better if we played in a ****** conference. Yeah that would make recruits want to come play with us. By your thinking we should just go to conference USA so we can win. ******* pansies.

Yup. Name me one thing the SEC has done for us at all besides watch us screw ourselves, then figure out ways to make it worse. I hate the rest of the SEC and I sure as heck hate Auburn. Anyone else can go win a national title but OM and Auburn. If it were us, you think anyone outside of MSU would be supporting us? Hell no, they'd be drafting JUCO and Cowbell rules in Birmingham to make sure we don't get there again. Screw the SEC.

Yea... um... name me one 5* recruit that's knocking at our door right now to come play for us because we play in the same conference/division as the national champions. Swing and a miss there, buddy.

I'm not throwing a fit. Look I get it, we have to play them. But u gotta look at it a different way. The team that's playing for a natty we beat except that last 10 sec. That's a selling point. And when we are not playing each other that's the team we should all pull for since they have a lot in common with us. We are both land grant schools, both have 2 sec teams in state, and we both have the other sec team thinking they are so much better than us. I love to see them stick it to big brother. And like I said, us playing in the best conference in the best division is a great selling point to recruits. Do you not think that with all the press the sec has been getting since our winning streak in the natty has helped us? Of course it has. Ask any sec coach, heck ask Mullen if that's helped him in recruiting. Plus all the extra money to help build those new facilities. It's all good in sec country

Name a recruit it's helped us land that said because we "had auburn beat except the last second." Yup... didn't think so. Next... BTW, I hate auburn with a fiery passion and I hope FSU throttles them in Pasadena... even though it won't happen. The SEC showed no support of us in Omaha, I'm not showing any support for Auburn in Pasadena. Plain and simple.

the reality of the situation is that it makes no difference who we want to win the game. if who i rooted for won every time, state would be 14-0 every year and rolling in multiple national titles. people get too caught up in who to root for. it doesnt matter and the opinion of fans have zero impact on the game. yes, its obvious, but people argue about this **** as if it really mattered who someone rooted for or against.

Conference prestige is probably one of our biggest selling points right now. We really aren't beating Bama, Aub, and LSU heads up for recruits very often even if they aren't bringing home crystal balls. But we can damn sure make a strong sell to guys who are just under those teams' radar.

That Said, I doubt the conference can get any more prestigious than it already is. I hope auburn gets butt17ed by FSU.

I absolutely agree and don't see the argument any other way. We all agree that winning the national championship should boost your recruiting, increase fundraising, stabilize your coaching staff, etc. Why do I want all that for my main competitors? People always say "for the SEC to get money"...that's a stupid argument. Everyone gets the same cut after the bowl team's expenses, so it doesn't give us any advantages over the teams we are playing.

The bottom line is we need teams in the league to be down which means losing as much as possible. Look at Mizzou, they're a good team but another reason they won the SECE is because FL & TN suck and UGA had injuries. When we went to Atlanta in 1998, Auburn, LSU, Vandy & SC sucked and Alabama & ole miss were very average. It does us absolutely no good for the rich in this league to get richer by winning national championships. I honestly hope we are the only SEC team to win our bowl game....We get the money just for them being in the games.

I hate auburn almost as bad as OM, but to say that it is no advantage us being in the SEC is crazy. If you want to know what MSU would be like without all the success the other teams in the SEC have had, drive to Hattisburg. Buy season ticket for Southern Miss for a year and then come back and tell me there is no advantage being in the Sec. I realize that every team receives a cut of the money but the difference is that we need the money, Bama doesn't, they already have more money than they can spend.
As for Omaha, I had two LSU fans who were in Omaha call and offer me their tickets when LSU was eliminated. This wasn't close friends or family, just fans I had met and kept in touch with through the years. I couldn't attend and both LSU fans stayed and supported the Dawgs to the very end.
I still don't know if I can root for Auburn in this game though!

Telling people to look a it a particular way is assuming that those who you're engaging with never looked at it in the way you're asking of them. Truth is, a few years ago, this board was pro SEC chest bumping. I remember seeing a lot of people using that same argument to question if some people were sane that didn't care about the SEC winning as much as they have been. Now, people are not only jumping off that train but they're trying to derail it. I actually have to agree with them.

I won't go as far to say that the prestige of the SEC doesn't help us in terms of recruiting because it does. But particular teams winning the championship... again and again... doesn't help us at all in the long run. As has been stated a few times, we already lose recruits to LSU, Auburn and Bama without them winning championships as it is. Them winning more only widens that gap even more. What helps us is if we beat these teams and with the traction they've built, that's not happening on a consistent basis in the foreseeable future. With that said, I may not root against all of the SEC if the championships were spread around and the teams playing for it were not Auburn or Ole Miss... definitely Auburn.

Nowhere did I say I don't want to be I the SEC. I always will. But let the East win the next 5-6. I do have a healthy dislike for Auburn though, since we are on the other side of their luck.

For me it's a matter of strict jealousy. I don't want brethren fans of the SEC having what we can't have. If the roles were reversed, and we'd had recent national championships, it wouldn't bother me near as much, and I probably would have a little bit of conference pride. I doubt even if MSU were to win the National Championship, it diminishes LSU in any way. They have a storied history with multiple national titles. But I want what they have and what eludes us. And it makes me sick anytime someone like LSU or Auburn win yet another National Championship in a big sport.

^^^ This. Auburn is 1 year removed from an absolutely dismal season... 0-8 in the SEC and we ran them off the field in the second half. This year, they have their former offensive coordinators and 4 of our former coaches and are now beating the **** out of everyone. We have had some talented teams in the past and I don't know what it is that they do that we cant, but we cannot seem to get everything to click at the same time. We may have good defense one game, good offense the next and defense lays an egg, special teams screws us aGAIN... the cream theory is alive and kicking and will not change, is my bet. Screw the rest of the league... I want us to go out and win a national championship for us so that we can thump our chest to the rest of the league and do something they tell us we can't. I take years off my life trying to cheer for this team, sometimes...

That's cool, yeah I'd like to see someone in the east win it for a while till we get our crap together so we can win one. I just want the sec to win it every year. Now the only time I wouldn't pull for sec is if it's tsun. I couldn't pull for them in anything.
