Most of Polk's recruits are pretty one dimentional in that they can hit, but are not good in the field. Cohen's jucos are a little better in the field, but are not hitting. Polk left very little pitching outside of Routt. Cohen has brought in a tallented pitching class, but only Stratton has dominant stuff for the starters and the others are not in high school any more and are having to learn how to pitch in the best conference in the country. Throw in the fact that in our first four weeks in conference play, we have faced three of the top five teams in the league and this is where we are struggling at for now. A lot of you still think that we are an elite program that can simply say our name and the country's best recruits respond: you are wrong. We are the third best program in our state and outside the college world series team of a couple of years back, have not been a difference maker in years. You can be angry all you want, but those are the facts. Cohen is not perfect, but part of it is he is trying too hard to get us back with average talent at this point. We need to bite the bullet, bring in the freshmen position players and recruit more pitchers with overpowering stuff. This is going to take a couple of more years to see the results that we all want. Cohen's pitching staff will be much improved next year after going through the season and learning how to pitch in the league. We have better hitters on the way. But this is not the two year quick fix that most of 'our experts' on the board think should happen. Last year's class and this class are both top ten classes. We will get the results we want if we don't try to timeframe the situation: Cohen's recruits have been on the field for all of seven weeks. Cohen is not Croom--he is actually a college baseball national coach of the year, so he knows how to get the job done. Quit all the bitching and let him.

You have a senior in Russ Sneed that has stolen ONE base all year with hip problems. And he goes on the first pitch. When else has Cohen told Sneed to steal this year?

Then you have Ryan Duffy, another senior take off for third when the third base coach was clearly trying to hold him up before he was even halfway to the bag per David Murray.

Both are Polk players. And then you have rumors which I know to be true about Polk's players not liking Cohen.

On top of that Cohen when asked about it said "both guys were trying to make plays"- if you read between the lines- he didn't tell them to go.

And if you think I don't ever criticize Cohen, you need to look back at all the times this week I've said that Sam Frost needs to sit or Fri. when I questioned why Ryan Duffy wasn't in the lineup.

I dont care how good they've turned out to be. That should never happen to Mississippi State in baseball
