Let this sink in. If we want to come close to winning our next home series we won't be able to pitch anyone against OM on Tuesday. In Cohen's "most talented team ever" we will have to start "Walk'em Woody" at Trustmark Park.
WHO labeled this team Cohen's "most talented team ever"? This is why I can't get in with the Baseball America's of the world. #1, those predictions are based off of "projecting" that players like Woody, Paul Young, Lingo, etc. are going to be amazing. The reality is they can't take into consideration injuries, slumps, necessary growth, whatever. Woody was always going to be a project this year and still is. He may come around still and be dynamite for us- I'm hoping on it. But I'm not basing MY predictions on someone else's projections- they don't even watch most of our games.
#2, this team is taking a carbon copy path to the season as almost every season Cohen's been here. It might not look super pretty right now, but we're a team that learns how to grind it out during the season. Nothing more, nothing less. They're starting to find ways to win now. Personally, I don't want to be peaking in April anyway.
#3, expecting this team to surpass last year's achievements is a little high even just going off of what we graduated last year and not basing it off of projections that may or may not work out.
They're coming around. I don't really see the need to be fatalists when we're 2 games back with a lot of baseball to play. I'm okay with the fact that we're not playing our best ball in April.
