This morning on the Mike & Mike show Herbstreit said just because MSU offered Cam Newton money to come doesnt mean that AU did and by this reasoninghe believes Auburn could be in the clear with NCAA. Did I miss something? When was it determinedState offered Cam Newton money to come play? Why is it so hard to get the story right?
Sorry if German, just got a chance to get on here.</p>

I mean if we had offered the money he would have been in an MSU uniform this year. That's the whole freakin' point! Instead he's at Auburn.

Cam was a solid MSU commit until about 10 days prior to signing day when the Newtons visited Auburn, a school which the Newtons never mentioned as being on their list of schools they considered.

The media also misses the fact that an MSU coach alleges that Cam called him crying, saying he couldn't honor his commitment because "the money was too much".

It pissed me off that they overlook this and assume there is nothing at all that implies Auburn (or its boosters) paid for Cam Newton.

So Cecil asked MSU for money? We say we are going to pay Cecil the said "180K." Cam says, the ultimate decision is his dads, but he wants to go play at MSU. Cecil decides that, regardless of the fact that he asked for the money, that the best thing for Cam would be to go play at the place who isn't going to pay him?<div>
</div><div>Makes no sense. That story isn't even plausible. </div>

Actually, when Cam visited Auburn, Cecil, did not go with him. Cecil, the guy everyone agrees ... was making the decission for Cam didn't even attend the official visit with Cam.

Jacobs said the decision for Cecil Newton not to attend "was mutually agreed upon. Out of the highest respect that Cecil has for Cameron, he won't be here today."

That's what I don't get. Its is your job to get the story straight and he can't do it. All that was missing was somebody calling us the "webels". I immediatley corrected him outloud but it was still early and the wife was sleeping so she told me to shut up and go back to bed. I don't think she understood what was at stake.</p>

several different iterations of "Just because Mississippi State offered his father something and they didn't take it, everyone assumes Auburn outbid them."

the fact his old man was 'shopping him' makes it obvious that AU bought his services. Wasn't the 'the money just too much' to pass on Auburn. The SEC/NCAA sweep the whole affair under the rug so as to protect the BCS championship game ($$$$$$$$$$$$)

Somebody correct him on STATE offering Cam/Cecil money! We didn't do that. You guys keep wanting to talk about the absurdity that Auburn didn't offer. I agree with this. But no one seems to see the glaring misinformation that State offered money. For the love of everything, we don't need that to become a standard talking point when this discussion comes up again in the national spotlight.

Herbstreit can spin it however he wants. NCAA investigator are sniffing around Cecil's business associates not Bill Bell's or John Bond's.
