I keep hearing about how the B1G doesn't generate big time basketball just because of the NCAA results, but 3 B1G players in the Top 17 (1st round), with Kris Murray of Iowa still on the board.

Jett Howard #11

Kobe Bufkin #15

Jalen Hood-Schifino #17

Not bad for those willing to keep harping on how good the Big East supposedly is and supposedly better than the B1G......not quite sure that's accurate based on the results tonight.

Doesn't say much for Howard's coaching.
Michigan had 7 top 100 HS ranked players last season, 5 of them top 50
He's a better recruiter than a coach for sure
He hired Phil Martelli who has 444 wins as a head coach - all at St Joseph's - but that hasn't seemed to help
He certainly doesn't get the most out of his players

Young talented players don’t translate to wins. Both Michigan and OSU showed flashes but their chemistry was lacking at times. A mix of talent and veteran leaders gives you a chance to beat more talented teams. I don’t love Slappy but I can’t say that he’s a bad coach either. I do like Pike and I can say he is a great team chemistry coach.

Wow, The Big Ten with 5 first round draft picks and the Big East only had Hawkins from Connecticut. We also had three more in Round two. I am happy that Caleb signed. I wish him luck. Howard at Michigan must have done a poor job with with two guys getting drafted at # 11 and # 15 and losing Dickenson to the portal I think to Kansas. How is that possible with those 3 studs to only go 18-16 ?

2 Big East 1st, 2 Big East 2nd rounders

8 to 4 total.....Seth Lundy at 45 was a surprise.

Two conferences had multiple lottery picks -- the American Athletic Conference and the SEC.

Also, weirdly, Overtime Elite and France.
Not even G-League.

Looking ahead to 2024, it seems G-League Ignite and OTE are going to start taking up more and more lottery spots.

How good a conference is related to NCAA performance, like it or not.

Every team has the same aspirations every year, win your league and win the NCAA tournament.

Having NBA draft talent is fine, but pales in comparison to results in the court when it counts.

The B1G has laid an egg for a while in the tourney. You are what your record says you are & our B1G NCAA record is not good.

So far it seems that the Thompson Twins are the only OTE players who got better while at OTE.
