I can't argue with you, our effort is incredibly low, but UConn lost a lot last year in the early going, they weren't very good and ole Danny boy was losing his ever loving mind.
They had also just won two titles. Pope got blown out by f-ing Tennessee of all schools in the Sweet 16 the proceeding year.

I find any fans trying to somehow blame FB for any problems BB may go through just as annoying as the FB fans who try to blame FB shortcomings on BB. I prefer to support and cheer on both without the petty jealousy.
Those games were very disappointing but it is just 2 freaking games. Always too much over reaction to everything around here. If we had won those 2 many of the same people would be getting equally silly with undefeated type predictions. Is it too much to just support your team and let things playout a bit first?
That was largely due to injuries. He did beat that same Tennessee team twice as I remember.
Pope did a good job last year. I’m worried right now but I can’t give up on Pope yet. I hope you’re right and your patience and positivity ends up being the way we all should be right now. I hope I’m worrying for nothing and it all works out

I’m thinking 16-15.
We still have UNC, Gonzaga, Indiana, and St John’s before conference play starts. Uh, I’ll say we go 1-3. Not sure who the one win will be. That’s 5 losses heading into conference play.
9-9 or 8-10 in conference play, leaves us 17-14 or 16-15.
I lost all my confidence in this team after that embarrassing effort Tuesday night. I chalked the Louisville loss up to the Cards being fired up, playing out of their minds, and them being at home. That was probably wishful thinking on my part.
This team lacks character, effort, and toughness. They‘ll likely miss the tournament.
I‘ll be ecstatic to be wrong. I’m wrong a lot. Just ask my wife.

I did. Then Louisville and Michigan State happened. Last yr they were 10-8. I think the league has slid back a little, but I think this team is far worse than last yrs version.
Non competitive in both, for the most part. Down 20 in the first half in both. The issue isn’t losing, it’s HOW they lost.

Im not a season ticket holder in either sport but I’ve attended far more UK football games than basketball. I haven’t missed a UK football game since 2002. JLo, Abney, Artose Pinner. I’m not a Jonnie come lately. It’s very clear what I think about football in terms of ceiling and where it stands competitively. I don’t expect football first fans to agree and that’s fine.
Everyone has their own view of how NIL should be split (not that any of it matters unless you’re Mitch or the university ) —- I happened to be in the go all in on basketball and pass UCLA during this unique opportunity type. Alas, even that opportunity is gone now —- it wasn’t a shot at football so much as a why aren’t we giving all the money to this other thing I’d rather be all-in on thing. Easily my most controversial view that I hold and I understand most fans don’t agree and probably shouldn’t.

It won’t surprise me. That lack of effort, fight, intensity, or toughness against Michigan St said a lot. These pampered bunch of pussies, were an embarrassment to the proud tradition of our State, and our program. If they lose all 4 remaining non conference games, against UNC, Gonzaga, Indiana, and St John’s, I would fire the entire staff, and Barnhart.
Honeymoon is over for Mark. No one cares about the Pollyanna act any longer. This was supposed to be a very calculated roster that the staff is entirely responsible for. And so far, either the roster is garbage, or the coaching is incompetent. Either way, it’s on Pope.
Dan Issel is making a lot of sense right now and it has me really worried. This team may be fundamentally broken, without hope of being fixed.

The Az players said UK wasn’t nearly as good as the team they had beaten for the ‘97 title.
And we weren’t. Then.
But the team still competed. We look now like we have never practiced.
Going all the way back to exhibition we are 1-3 against average to great teams. The next one will tell the tale.
One more game will not decide the season either way. Each game starts over at 0-0. You can only lose or win one game at a time. Nobody is satisfied with those loses nor are they denying we have things that need improvement.
We are in crunch time for these issues to be fixed for the tournament resume. The SEC is not what it was last year.
Billy Gillispie, how Barnhart survived that I still don’t know. And even still we had fans that actually think he’s been great. You let former AD’s of the past have these kinds of resources and they’d have statues here. The guy has had 1 mission since he’s been here. Collect the money, create apathy, and convince the fans to show up and pay but accept mediocre results. He has intentionally tried to temper expectations here and has pulled it off.
He’s awful. Wanted to retain Tubby and even Tubby was like? It’s over. Hired BCG, joker, wanted to retain joker, wanted to retain Gillispie until he had no choice due to his psycho sht. Turns around wants to stop the Calipari hire. They don’t fire him, they just move him out of the way. It’s insanity. Only here would he survive this.
Let’s not forget he was given the program at the highest you can be. 10 years prior - 4 final fours, 3 title games, 2 championships. Turns around and flushed it all down the toilet.
Barnhart was implemented to be a hatchet man for the powers that were assuming control from the men before. It was a power struggle I will be convinced of that until I die. Barnhart does what he’s told and assumes control. This is about money, this isn’t about the program or what it needs. Don’t believe he wanted to hire Hurley, and our biggest problem is what coach who wants to win wants to deal with Mitch Barnhart? I wouldn’t. I want an AD who does what it takes.
Thank God for some on the blue hairs. Those men are keeping this program sustained. People need to let up on them. I’ll always be convinced without them applying the pressure nothing would get done here except this pres and board collecting rent payments from 19 year olds.
I just hope we make the tournament at this point. I have stopped bickering! Thanks again, Mitch.

The SEC doesn't have the firepower at the top, but it has many good teams.
Currently, there are 13 SEC teams in the top 50 of Barttorvik and 12 SEC teams in the top 50 in Kenpom.
We may have close to 20 quad 1 opportunities before the tournament.

If this team loses at Rupp to IU, loses to Arkansas, after being smacked down by Louisville, this season will be remembered as an embarrassment.
If we see this pattern repeated as I said, then yes I guess you could say the sky is falling for this season. I am a Pope fan BTW. I think you kind of need to chill and let the fans call what they are seeing.
I may have been a bit unfairly harsh towards you personally but it was the cumulative effect of this forum. If we get this straightened out it will not be thanks to all the panic and bashing from this forum. If we don't improve and the season is a failure it will not be because I didn't panic and trash the coach and demean the players either.
