Kansas won a title a couple years ago… We haven’t sniffed a Final Four in a decade.

We’re in the same situation we were in after BCG was fired and before Calipari was hired in 2009. I genuinely feel hopeless.
What’s this got to do with the historical record or the last title for Kansas? He said Kansas would pass us this year and I simply said Kansas isn’t any good either. THIS YEAR.

Well, the issue for us this year is the same thing UConn went through last year. They collected a bunch of losses early, 3 of them were in the Maui invitational. It took them a long time to get rolling and when they got to March, they were really good, but it was too little, too late. They were an 8 seed and got Florida in round 2.
The way we are struggling right now, we could be in a similar situation. We're that bad.
But they played with effort in those early losses.

This team does not.

I can't argue with you, our effort is incredibly low, but UConn lost a lot last year in the early going, they weren't very good and ole Danny boy was losing his ever loving mind.

Not sure about the wins right now, but this team is definitely losing 14+ on its current trajectory!

Hence, no tournament with a $22 million roster**!

** = I don’t believe for a split second UK spend even near that much! But that doesn’t matter…
I dont think it was 22 million...but it was still to much lol
There are some coaches out there that stay cool as a cucumber on the sidelines, first one that comes to mind, is Dennis Gates (Mizzou). But even he has no issue getting into his players when the situation calls for it.
The situation called for it last night, many times and he just stood there.
I'm definitely not calling for Pope to be fired, no way, he wants to win as bad as I do, but I have reservations about his ability to handle this job given the fishbowl it is and this situation here, is not an easy one to navigate. I hope he gets it done thou

Pope is basically finished. Unless he can start winning and go 3-1 on that non conference from 2-20 UNC to St. John’s I see the team plummeting and pope realizing he’s too far over his head. I think he has already realized but maybe finds an away to change.

we will know soon imo if pope will be back and Barney watch that guy. I think it’s time for him to go. And fast. Wheels may be moving on that.
Barney will be retiring soon

I agree with you, but the football are very loud. You don’t know about this and don’t even need to care but I defended you specifically last spring. You were quite a name on the football thread, and while you and I don’t agree on much, that’s something we agreed on and I took up for you over there. There was a poster CaptainBoogerBuns taking posts of yours to the football people and trying to get mods to deal with you if you posted there. I’m just telling you I’ve lived out this football conversation here and on KSR+.
I find any fans trying to somehow blame FB for any problems BB may go through just as annoying as the FB fans who try to blame FB shortcomings on BB. I prefer to support and cheer on both without the petty jealousy.

The team we have seen against decent competition is not a tournament team.
Those games were very disappointing but it is just 2 freaking games. Always too much over reaction to everything around here. If we had won those 2 many of the same people would be getting equally silly with undefeated type predictions. Is it too much to just support your team and let things playout a bit first?

That was largely due to injuries. He did beat that same Tennessee team twice as I remember.
Pope did a good job last year. I’m worried right now but I can’t give up on Pope yet. I hope you’re right and your patience and positivity ends up being the way we all should be right now. I hope I’m worrying for nothing and it all works out

We are riding the short bus to 19-12 like a snowball headed for hell. One win in SEC tourney, one win in NCAA tourney. 21-14 final record. This tonight - was not Kentucky basketball.

We are going to lose the all-time wins record to Kansas. Again.

This is how you become Indiana. It really is. You let people like Mitch Barnhart run your program into the ground because he leeches away every ounce of hope you have and slowly gets you to accept mediocrity. Something really has to change or this program is going to be replaced, historically, by freaking UCONN.
To be honest with you, I think you’re being way too optimistic.

I’m thinking 16-15.

We still have UNC, Gonzaga, Indiana, and St John’s before conference play starts. Uh, I’ll say we go 1-3. Not sure who the one win will be. That’s 5 losses heading into conference play.

9-9 or 8-10 in conference play, leaves us 17-14 or 16-15.

I lost all my confidence in this team after that embarrassing effort Tuesday night. I chalked the Louisville loss up to the Cards being fired up, playing out of their minds, and them being at home. That was probably wishful thinking on my part.

This team lacks character, effort, and toughness. They‘ll likely miss the tournament.

I‘ll be ecstatic to be wrong. I’m wrong a lot. Just ask my wife.

Non competitive in both, for the most part. Down 20 in the first half in both. The issue isn’t losing, it’s HOW they lost.

im already sure you’d disagree when I say this but I do support both.

Im not a season ticket holder in either sport but I’ve attended far more UK football games than basketball. I haven’t missed a UK football game since 2002. JLo, Abney, Artose Pinner. I’m not a Jonnie come lately. It’s very clear what I think about football in terms of ceiling and where it stands competitively. I don’t expect football first fans to agree and that’s fine.

Everyone has their own view of how NIL should be split (not that any of it matters unless you’re Mitch or the university ) —- I happened to be in the go all in on basketball and pass UCLA during this unique opportunity type. Alas, even that opportunity is gone now —- it wasn’t a shot at football so much as a why aren’t we giving all the money to this other thing I’d rather be all-in on thing. Easily my most controversial view that I hold and I understand most fans don’t agree and probably shouldn’t.

Looks like we may even miss tournament at this rate
It won’t surprise me. That lack of effort, fight, intensity, or toughness against Michigan St said a lot. These pampered bunch of pussies, were an embarrassment to the proud tradition of our State, and our program. If they lose all 4 remaining non conference games, against UNC, Gonzaga, Indiana, and St John’s, I would fire the entire staff, and Barnhart.

Honeymoon is over for Mark. No one cares about the Pollyanna act any longer. This was supposed to be a very calculated roster that the staff is entirely responsible for. And so far, either the roster is garbage, or the coaching is incompetent. Either way, it’s on Pope.

Dan Issel is making a lot of sense right now and it has me really worried. This team may be fundamentally broken, without hope of being fixed.

Watching the clips of Garrison getting beat and not even trying to rebound may be symptomatic of something much deeper.

They had also just won two titles. Pope got blown out by f-ing Tennessee of all schools in the Sweet 16 the proceeding year.
He was just coming off one title at that point.

Not that it changes the point.

Of course good teams can lose early while figuring out new guys and the coach.

The ‘98 title team lost in Maui in ‘97 to Az.

The Az players said UK wasn’t nearly as good as the team they had beaten for the ‘97 title.

And we weren’t. Then.

But the team still competed. We look now like we have never practiced.

I am not a UConn fan, of course, but to their credit ... they have won 6 titles, under 3 different coaches, in the past 25 years.
No matter how you look at it, that's pretty impressive.
And repeatedly give us belt to *** treatment
