Got to guess the Masters' grand salami although seems like that should have been a year or two earlier (know our greatest on the field team choked against UNC in 89 though). Will take a peek now & see if I am correct.

Edited to say: Woo-hoo. Got it right.

...the elimination game against FSU. Their 1st base coach was named Bob. We kept yelling out that he spells his name backwards. Also kept calling him "whale poo poo". He'd said in the news that grand slam made him feel as low as whale poo poo.

When MSU is at its best, I dont think there is any comparison to the atmosphere at DNF. What pisses me off the most is that in my 5 years at MSU, we did not host ONE regional. I even missed the Super Regional against Clemson. By far one of my biggest regrets of college.

I was not at the 1990 Regional, but I can only imagine that the Super Regional was similar. I have never seen a crowd into every pitch the way it was those two days against Clemson. I remember a Clemson fan telling her husband before the first game that she "didn't see what the big deal was about playing a regional at Mississippi State." I didn't see her on the second day.

Is that we spent seven years trying to be classier and nicer than everyone else.

When you have that type of an atmosphere, there is absolutely no excuse whatsoever to not win championships and bring in good players.

I think Byrne needs to make a couple of things mandatory to buy baseball season tickets:

1. A baseball IQ test. I'm willing to bet that half of the sheep would fail the test that they give the Diamond Girls.

2. An winning mentality aptitude test.

If you fail either, no tickets for you.
