No doubt we all have our favorite teams but nothing will ever surpass the emotions I felt that night in INDIANAPOLIS. My father and I hugged each other as the tears rolled down our cheeks. We had some great teams before5 1980 but winning the Final Four lifted the program like nothing else before.
I still get chills every time I hear “This is it” on the radio or tv.
Everyone on the team deserves a huge round of applause tomorrow.
The drive back from Indy that night was bumper to bumper and it ended on Campus with fans still celebrating into the early hours of the next day. The empty beer cans on Floyd street were 8” high. The celebration at Freedom Hall was surreal. Still grinning every time I think about it.
