I have no recollection of that, but my brother-in-law swears we did.

The times I remember the goalposts coming down were:

1996 Alabama
1998 Arkansas
1999 Ole Miss
2000 Florida
2004 Florida (one goalpost)

No. We did inexplicably rush the field though.

Around that time, stadiums installed a means to lower the goalposts. That might have been a reason.

There weren't enough students at the game to tear down both goalposts

I remember asking one of my friends in a joking manner before the game started if we won, would there even be enough people to tear down the goalposts. At the beginning of the game there wasn't, but the stadium was much fuller at the end of the game than at the beginning. People were calling their friends and saying "Hey! We're beating Florida!" And they were coming in to watch the second half on the chance we actually won.

I rushed the field during the '96 Alabama game and carried one of the posts. Loved seeing us take down Fat Freddie Kitchens.

1984 LSU, 16-14 victory. I think LSU was top 10 and in position to win the SEC. The victory wasn't that big, but it was the last game in Scott Field before construction on the West Side upper deck was going to begin. We all ran out on the field and tore down the North goal post, and then we ran down to the other end and tore down the South posts. We were essentially trying to dismantle the whole stadium.

Pretty sure we got one lowering goal post after the 2000 florida game. The UK game was a THursday night game where we came back in the 4th quarter. Some students may have gone on the field because it just wasn't as big of a deal to do that then. We hopped the fence after a game in 99 and nobody did anything to us. Weren't rushing the field just wanted to be down there, jumped over and walked around. We were in high school so maybe it mattered how old we looked and the fact that we weren't coming from the student section.

Yeah, I remember it being sparse. I do distinctly remember...

... a post-game video of fans celebrating and congratulating Westerfield. I looked for it, but couldn't find it. Also, I am getting old, so there is a small possibility that I am remembering the Ole Miss game from that year... Memories...who the hell knows.
Don't remember that happening.
