Time for a 16-team playoff, no conference championship games/byes and no automatic bids. Just the Top 16 rated teams. First two rounds on campus sites.
Time to dump the playoff and let the 4 teams that earn it during the regular season square off. HeII I liked the BCS two team championship better.
Agree. The difference in performance for teams with a bye vs teams that played a first round game is becoming too obvious to ignore.
The 4 team playoff was not enough. Undefeated Florida State was left out. The 12 team playoff is much better, but the BYEs are a curse. Time to expand to 16 teams.
The long layoffs are bull$#it. It seems like the CFP fagholes are trying to get the CFP to line up with the NFL.
Which 4 teams earned it? 2 of the Top 4 have already lost.
This is why I’m glad we don’t make the playoffs as a conference champion.
Also worth noting that the two teams that have advanced so far didn’t have to play a conference championship game. That will change after the Rose Bowl, of course

Exactly. First round bye isn’t the problem. It’s first round bye AND not playing for a month.
At minimum, make the 2nd round on campus games as well. I would much rather try to shake off my layoff rust at home than halfway across the country in a neutral site.
The curse is real. All 4 with a bye lost last year and now the first two have lost this year. This is something that needs to be addressed.

Indiana is the only undefeated P4 team.
Indiana sure doesn’t seem to be affected by the 1st round bye. But they need to have the playoffs finished by Jan 1st not late January
Sounds like they should be the national champions then.
First round on campus. Next round just like it is now the New Years6 bowls.
Those major bowls games are part of the playoffs and aren’t going away.

EDIT: Even though you mentioned it, I get it if you dont answer the question because this year there weren't 4 teams who clearly earned a playoff spot.
The 2 best tes by a margin. Ill be shocked if Ole Miss is within 2 scores by half.
Indiana proved this a myth. Long layoff with a bye should help those teams and especially with staying healthy. It's not as long of a layoff as the original BCS championship game was either, so it's not a good excuse.
Would you like to take that comment back? Without the playoff Ole Miss wouldn’t get their shot.
