Feels good to be back in tournament convo regularly but we are far from an elite basketball team or to get the hype of a 2 seed.

At the time, we had earned the respect. And now we have earned what we are….i don’t see the issue nor the argument. College basketball is fluid.

We aren’t the same team that blew out SC by 30 and went into Vandy and won by double digits. Our offense is completely broken. One reason is teams have studied the film and made adjustments and we’ve done nothing to counter it.

To be fair it wasn’t just folks here, Joe Lunardi literally had us No. 8 overall on his seed list going into the Kentucky game.

This isn’t the same team. They’re all out of sorts now. Poor passing, lazy defense, and atrocious shooting were not around then. They are in an absolute rut of epic proportions.

We saw glimpses of our problems throughout the non con. What we havnt seen are the lazy passes, over pursuit on d and just lack of urgency. Turnovers, however are just getting worse. All of the above mentioned have contributed to that. We look tired. And at times, completely over matched.

These type of threads are absurd, it’s like people enjoy the bad more than the good especially with basketball for some reason. That team was a totally different team. I really think the loss to UK broke that version of that team and then bama finished all hope of that team showing back up

Mental toughness and stamina to make I through the season. This team has better talent than last year but too many of the players have gone mia when it matters that they show up through the season. They are still a good team no doubt but they should be no where in a discussion for anything about an 8-9 seed. Maybe a 10-11.

Memphis is pretty good and that has remained one of our better wins. But Pitt sucks. They are 5-8 in a bad ACC. That win did not age well for us at all.

The SEC could legitimately have all four Final Four teams. It’s absurd how good the league is this year. Playing an NCAA Tournament game would actually be a break for us after playing this conference schedule and SEC tourney.

It’s frustrating to lose these games but crazy to consider the high end teams we’ve played. Here are our losses by projected seed line:

It gives me optimism that we can maybe beat a team from another league in an 8-9-10 seed range but you can’t have any real confidence about us beating a 1-2-3 seed in the second round.

I do think we can beat a 7 to 10 seed type team in the first game which would be our first tourney win since 2008 and nothing to stick our nose up at. But the results so far suggest our second weekend chances aren’t great.

All true... unless said 7 to 10 seed can shoot the 3 ball.

It's been said many times, but it all comes down to luck of the draw on our matchups in the NCAAT. This team needs to be focused on finding 3 more wins right now and actually getting in. Then you worry about hoping for a good draw.

The problem we will have is we probably aren’t going to be a high enough seed to dodge 1-2-3 seed in the second round (if we get that far). Sure we may not see an SEC team early in the tourney but I’m fully expecting us to be paired with someone like Duke or Houston that can kick our teeth in just the same…. And that’s if we even get to them.
