we'll never win the SEC East because we will never have the talent to beat UT, Georgia, and Florida in the same year.... lets face it we'll have to have a really good coach to win here with the talent UK gets. I believe. STOOPS

Never is such a long time.

Jokers miserable talent (senior class from 07 had NINETEEN two stars that averaged LESS than a 5.2) his first year was able to upset top ten USC and lose to NC Auburn and Cam by three points, with only TWO four stars (both JCs) playing. Talent has been UK's main problem for decades, IIRC Collier went on to win the NFL and had THREE HOF coaches as assistants and Curci went from a great coach to a loser when his recruiting was curtailed. The upgrade in talent (and therefore depth) has been phenomenal under Stoops, and considering our record recently even more than that. Winning attracts winners, if we can start winning a few games I think our recruiting will take another big jump.

TEN four stars in one class, more than the FOUR from instate and the TWO JC transfers in the previous TEN YEARS that made any impact on football, hell, we could end up with our first FIVE star since the turn of the century in the 17 class if we make a little progress and we can calm down enough to add the other THREE four star OL in this class-----not just four stars but one a 5.9 and another a 6.0.

UK is perpetually "2 years away".

Nope. Not even close.

Not since maybe 75 or 76. The last time we had a good offense and defense.

A good O with Couch, no D.

Probation made "2 years away" a joke until maybe the 05 season, and even then no one thought our 07 offense would be that good------but we didn't have the depth, and we didn't have the D that year. Out of sync for a couple of years, good D not good O, or vice versa, and NEVER enough talent to seriously compete in the SEC, particularly lacking in talent at the backup positions when the SEC wore us down..

So while we might not be "2 years away" we are probably a lot closer to that right now than we have been since Curci, and if we could surprise with more wins than anyone expects (possible IMO, a lot of YOUNG talent) which would give these great recruiters (do you even want to argue that, with the seasons we have had under Stoops and still surprising classes) a chance to turn the corner. Not to beat Bama every year, but to have competitive teams that do have a chance to surprise everyone occasionally.

It's football, not basketball, it doesn't happen overnight, and the effort by the administration was absolutely pitiful until very recently, we are just getting started.

I'll bet Stoops will get longer than 2 years, because Barnhart doesn't give a sh@t what the average fan thinks. Plus and most importantly he has the backing of the president, caliputo or however you spell it. To address the OP, please tell me what you have seen of Stoops that makes you think he can coach? Also, just for the sake of argument, if Marrow left tomorrow would you still be all end with Stoops? All I hear is how great a recruiter Stoop has been, he better be because he sure in the hell can't coach.

This made me laugh for some reason.

Yeah you can say all that about winning and bringing in talent. But even when Florida UGA and UT are bad there still bringing in more talent than us. For us to win the East those 3 teams would have to be having a down year and for us to be Lucky. and it takes luck to win it all. Because at the end of the day we will never out recruit Florida GA or UT and the East runs through them....
