I am a firm believer in having the best kids on the field during playoffs. If I have a d lineman that can lay a lead block, I want my stud leading the way. If I have a receiver that can play DB better than anyone on my team, I want him in the grill on my opponent's best receiver. I get it and would never question why a coach does that during the playoffs.

You have all year to push and probe on your depth but now it is time for the big boys to suck it up.

My point is they should have that kind of depth. I'm not sure they have it and if they do it is severely under developed. Having 100 kids on the team should give you options to not play kids both ways. Now, I see why Isaiah plays both ways and others. But teams that win are those with the depth to get through injuries, etc.
At this time of year, you need to do anything and everything to win the game you've got and worry about the next game next week. I'd expect GW to do the same thing.

Can I just say again - "This is going to be a GREAT GAME"

I love seeing GW in 8A. Do you think Coach H would ever be open to pulling an ESL and sign up for a two year stint in 8A so we in the peanut gallery can all stop agonizing on whether GW is 7A or 8A every year?;)

Yeah sure. Consign yourself to the gauntlet we have to run this year? You would have to be sadistic to want that.

That being said, GW plays an 8A schedule and a couple of years ago was a five-yard play away from playing for an 8A title.

Does anyone have background on why this is a 6 PM start on Saturday and not earlier in the day? I know Glenbard West rarely agrees to an away Friday night playoff, but was there a mutual agreement on 6 PM or was it arbitrated?

Is the game to be televised by Comcast?

Pretty sure Edgy had input to ensure GW fans have to sacrifice watching the Cubs in Game 6 (if necessary.)

I'd like to think they did it for me so I can see two playoff games on Saturday!!;)

But in all seriousness - that is a good question. I think the Away team picks the day (Friday or Saturday) but maybe the home team picks the time? If I were NV - I would want to play in the early evening - get all those 3700 kids to the nite game, it's more what the NV players are used to as nearly all the games are in the evening... etc. etc.

Per IHSA website :

The game must be played on Saturday, unless both schools agree to play the game on Friday. Friday games must not be scheduled during school hours. Saturday games must start between 1 pm and 7 pm. The schools must agree on the starting time of the game. If they cannot come to an agreement, the IHSA Office will set the starting time.

Good Stuff!! So the Away team basically has Veto Power to nix a Friday game and bump it to Saturday. makes sense - they the ones traveling after all :)

You would think GW would want the time in the afternoon (don't they play a lot of their games at Duchon at 1pmish?) and Neuqua would want it to start at 7:30pm (similar to their normal routine). maybe 6pm was the compromise?

I told you the other day it would be a night game and if Neuqua had their way it would be Friday night. Neuqua hates day games and will not schedule one.

It appears to be the only Saturday night game (in the large classes), except multi-team fields like Gately.

Maybe Hetlett agreed to 6 PM.

I was thinking maybe CN100 was broadcasting and wanted a night game. If not, who at the IHSA decided on 6 PM?

Coin toss??

Both are very good teams, but Neuqua has a ton of players on offense. Donny Navarro is as good a receiver in the state. If Donny plays well I like Neuqua. He is a class act and a stud receiver. NV 28-GW 24

As an outside possibility, it could be that the officials aren't available for an earlier start. But that's just another guess to add to the mix.

Novarro seems to be a favorite target but hasn't scored much. He's a real work horse for NV. Looks like GW will have their hands full with at least 3 good receivers. Might be a good idea to get some pressure on the QB, often.

Yikes, that's a shame. Hope it's nothing serious. Did he get hurt last weekend against GN? He seems to be a go to guy for NV.
Yes it is a shame. And yes he did....he was great in kickoff returns and as the 3rd WR with Zay and Owen.
