With most of the board already counting Saturday's game at Troy as a W, I recommend you go back and read the recap of our 2001 matchup with (then) Troy State:

If you were there, you should remember how awful that felt. I remember the tornado sirens blaring during the game and everybody having to huddle underneath the stands. Also, if memory serves correct Ole Miss played Bama and they were playing it on the old jumbotron during the breaks. Everybody booed everything when either team made a play.

Also, Troy players are calling this hands down, the biggest game in their program's history. A bit of hyperbole, perhaps, but they will be sky high for us and ready to play. I hope Dan has us ready. A loss down there would let a lot of air out of the balloon.

Was that after the siren or before? I remember the game all too well, thankfully I was listening on the radio. I believe Darren Williams had 3 interceptions. The best game of his career was overshadowed by the fact we lost to Troy.

I remember going back to a friend's dorm room at Evans during that game. When they delayed the game, they allowed us to leave the stadium and just walk back in the stadium without presenting a ticket or ticket stub. I guess they were just happy to see people come back to watch the last part of that crap-fest.

Williams 3 picks came the next year, the 11-8 win over Troy.

We picked them off 6 times, but fumbled it 6 times ourselves (lost 4). Sloppiest football game ever. When you beat Troy 11-8 like that...you still lose.

Which was also the game where Jackie insisted on running a made-of-glass Fant on a keeper with time winding down in the 4th.
