First, did we not get two transfers from Florida State and Texas? Secondly, if we did, will they be able to play next year or is there some transfer rule in baseball as well?

they started at Texas and FSU respectively and then went to JUCO so they should be eligible next year.

but the kid from FSU just makes me wonder. He originally went to Meridian CC in the fall and then FSU was looking for a SS and he transferred mid season. He didn't crack their lineup which doesn't cause any concerns except when you combine that with the fact he was going to MCC, it looks like he had no other offers. Then he leaves FSU when he didn't get to play and goes back to Juco. My issue with MCC is we just haven't seemed to have much luck with players from MCC, especially when you look at the gaudy numbers they put up there.

baseball system is bad. And I hate to say that. You do have an occasional Roy Oswalt, but usually it's in extenuating circumstances- like Oswalt playing at Weir. Most of the better guys are role player types at a D-I school.

I think it's because pretty much all of the good players are going to get snapped up by the four year schools, and we're only producing about 6-8 legit baseball prospects a year as a state.

I'm not holding my breath on some of these guys. Now, the Texas jucos, I'm excited about.

Wes Thigpen did sign with, and I believe enroll at LSU for the fall of his Fr. year. Hennington, not real excited about him, but he is no worse than anyone else we have and Vickerson, I agree as I am counting him an indirect Mississippi JUCO player.

But you're right- Texas JUCO baseball is very good. I think it's the best in the country. If we get Jaron Shepard and Runey Davis to come in, they would be immediate impact guys. I don't see Ogden as anything more than another Ryan Powers or Rawdow type player. Sean Johnson has a good chance to help us out as well.

that Ogden signed to get Trey Johnson to campus. I think that's a ridiculous notion b/c with a 35 cap, you can't do stuff like that. Plus, who has ever heard of a package deal to keep someone from going to the MLB draft?

Im still trying to figure the Ogden deal out.

I hate MS jucos.
