Trying to get the paragraphs to space. Hopefully this will work :
Yuku messed up my account over the weekend and they had me sign up again. Anyway, we're just weeks away and I'm about to bust out. I've been talking to Junkyard Jorge a lot lately about our expectations for this season. The more we talk about it the more excited I get. I think we're going to be pleasantly surprised. Here are my predictions:
1) Memphis = Memphis is gonna be bad even by Memphis standards this year. They'll be wishing they were back on Ole Miss' schedule playing in close games.
MSU - 48 Memphis - 7
Win ( 1-0 ) ( 0-0 )
2)Auburn = This is gonna be a great win at Davis Wade. 50,000 cowbells will be heard from Clay county.
I see Cam Newton as a liability for Auburn for at least the first half of his first year. He can't rely on being the best athlete on the field to be effective anymore. It's gonna take game experience for him to adjust to the SEC and we're his first stop. Defensively, I don't think Auburn is gonna be good by SEC standards. Especially in the second half when they'll be leaning on depth.
MSU - 31 Auburn - 24
Win ( 2-0 ) ( 1-0 )
3)LSU = This is the true toss up game of the season.
LSU fans are pissed Zack Lee left for baseball because Jordan Jefferson is looking bad in fall practice. Their only other real option is a guy that was benched a few years back for setting records by throwing pick sixes. And then there's Les Miles who went to the Croom school of game day management. Mullen will clearly out think him on game day just like he did last year. Yeah, Mullen did make a mistake by not giving Dixon the ball, but don't look for for a mistake like that this year. We showed last year that we can hang with them. LSU's athletes got them back in on special teams. I'm just reluctant to call a win in Baton Rouge considering our history there.
LSU - 28 MSU - 24
Loss ( 2-1 ) ( 1-1 )
4) Georgia = Mississippi's Dawgs got more bite.
Richt showed he was on the decline last year and he's on the hot seat big time in 2010. He brings a new defensive coordinator who will have them playing in the 3-4. Let's see how effective that 3-4 is stopping Alfa Dawg Relf when he has 5 yards to build up a full head of steam before he comes into contact with the linebackers playing off the line. I just don't see a 3-4 defense stopping the SEC's 2009 top rushing team.
MSU - 35 Georgia - 28
Win ( 3-1 ) ( 2-1 )
5) Alcorn = See Jackson State 2009.
MSU = 45 Alcorn = 7
Win ( 4-1 ) ( 2-1 )
6) Houston = This game will be payback for last year.
Houston's got Case Keenim and that's it. He's a decent QB, but only looks good because he's going against CUSA defenses. He won't be able to complete passes with our secondary in coverage and defensive line in his face. The CUSA officials stole it from us last year. This year we get the SEC officials as long as Slive doesn't keep them from being fair. If the game's called fair we destroy them like we were going to last year.
MSU - 38 Houston - 17
Win ( 5-1 ) ( 2-1 )
7) Florida = State upsets the Gators in Gainesville and Tebow cries in Denver.
I know this may sound like a stretch to some, but the Mullen/Tebow era is over at Florida and Urban will be frustrated by Mullen's new creation (Relf). There's no doubt that Florida has tons if talent, but this is a transition year at many positions for Florida and Mullen will know Urban's every move. Florida will not face another defense more prepared for their schemes. We're catching Florida at the right time.
MSU - 23 Florida -21
Win ( 6-1 ) ( 3-1 )
8) UAB = A bad CUSA team losses to a good SEC team's 2nd and 3rd team players.
MSU - 37 UAB - 10
Win ( 7-1 ) ( 3-1 )
9) Kentucky = The Cats will be running from the Dogs for 60 minutes.
We beat them at their place last year and we get them at home this year. A very underrated Rich Brooks is gone and so has their best D-lineman( Cory Petters ), their two best linebackers ( Sam Maxwell and Michael Johnson ) and their best guy in the secondary. If that's not enough, they only have five back on offense. We will be too much for them to stay in the game.
MSU - 35 Kentucky - 17
Win ( 8-1 ) ( 4-1 )
10) Alabama = This will be a good game in Tuscaloosa.
We always give Alabama a game in Tuscaloosa, they will just have been back from a physical game in Baton Rouge while we will have had an off week, and they are due for another loss to us, but they just have too much talent to overcome this year. Mullen still needs another season to get more of his own players on the field to beat a team like Alabama and go to Atlanta.
Alabama - 31 MSU - 21
Loss ( 8-2 ) ( 4-2 )
11) Arkansas = Arkansas fans will leave civilization disappointed.
Yeah, they got Mallett, but that's it. The defense stinks, the offense can't stand up, and they don't have much of a running game. Their O-line won't be able to block Pernell, Boyd, Flecher Cox, and KJ Wright blitzing from the outside. Mallett will be eating turf. He'll have to rush any throw to get it off against the SEC's most underrated defensive backfield of Broomfield, Mitchell and Banks. Also, Langston will hold his own back there to keep Mallett in check. Arkansas' defense better hope Relf is up to date on his rabies shots because they will feel his bite.
MSU - 31 Arkansas - 28
Win ( 9-2 ) ( 5-2 )
12) Mississippi = Ha! This one's too easy.
Houston Nutt and Tyron Nix, Enough said. Nutt will be texting recruits promises of a passing offense he will never run from the sidelines.
MSU - 48 Mississippi - 10
Win ( 10-2 ) ( 6-2 )
Bowl Predictions:
Alabama - BCS National Championship
Florida - Sugar Bowl
MSU - Citrus Bowl
LSU - Cotton Bowl
South Carolina - Outback Bowl
Arkansas - Music City Bowl
Georgia - Gator Bowl
Auburn - Peach Bowl
Kentucky - Liberty Bowl
Ole Miss - Pizza Bowl
