Just for discussion... does Berry's missed catch last night compare with Tyson Lee's missed touchdown vs. LSU last year?

Granted, the LSU game was the 4th of the season last year, so maybe apples and oranges. But I do see progress vs this time last year. </p>

The Tyson Lee pass was in the endzone, with only a couple of seconds left, to win the game.

If Berry catches that one, we still have to push it into the endzone, or at least convert the FG to go to overtime. So no, they are not comparable at all in my mind.

......even if Lee gets it over the LSU DB, doesn't mean it would have been caught. But hey! We are progressing.

2009 The pass is swatted down by a DB.
2010 The pass gets to its target only to be dropped.
2011 ..................a 17n CATCH!!!!!!!!!

his jump pass looked like a damn half court shot.

I have no faith in Relf, as a passer, and he doesn't appear to be the same runner without Dixon. I'm pretty hurt by this loss, but I'm afraid we're in for a long season. Because like Mullen said, if our QB's are off, it's going to be a long day for us.

The Corey Broomfield pick-6 is what I keep shaking my head about this morning. He picks that ball, we're not talking about Leon Berry getting us in field goal range. We have the lead and are back on defense to get a stop to win the game. And with the way the defense played the 2nd half, it's probably ballgame.

That was one of the worst throws Ralph had all night.

Just because it's a jump pass doesn't mean you have to throw it 25 feet in the air and5 feet over your TE's head. Ralph threw that ball from the 2yd line and it went almost as high as it did far.

who was stumbling backwards after having to adjust to an overthrown ball - both distance and elevation.

Actually, there was over a minute left in the game when LSU got the ball back. I have said all along, even if MSU scores there, they still had to kickoff to LSU with plenty of time on the clock. LSU would have returned the kick to at least the 40, and they proved all season they were capable of executing a 2 minute drill (even though their clock management against UMiss was a joke).

In short, MSU was not 1 foot away from winning. They were 1 foot away from taking a lead and praying for a rare defensive stop.

He forgot to compensate for the lack of gravitational pull on the ball once it left the earth's atmosphere.

sound like the 'tribe fans' from Major League arguing about how that home run they just crushed was 'way too high'.

We lost the game. We missed opportunities. Auburn came out and wanted it more and it was obvious.

Focus on LSU now and what we have to do there.

Actually, that is really what happened. Sure the pass was a little high but so were Tebow's if you go back and watch his. Green, just like everyone else in maroon last night, was a little tight and in a moment of panic or rush, miss timed his jump. Which made it a more difficult catch than what it should have been.

Regardless of the reason, or who was at fault.......we are Mize State and we f'ed up a beautiful play call. Bottom line.

Also in this thread.....Broomfield. I imagine that is the guy who lost the most sleep last night. Not that the drop cost of us the game but he sure missed an opportunity to be a hero and make a lasting memory for himself and the fans.

i need to go back and watch... I thought green panicked and jumped when he didn't need to and he just dropped it.
